Lots and lots of reports, mostly from women, of appalling behaviour from (mostly male) spectators at this race. Sexism, racism, misogyny, catcalling, inappropriate touching, homophobia all being fuelled by alcohol and an apparent herd mentality.
Dreadful stuff, with no place at race circuits. Or anywhere else come to that. |

Interesting sprint race. Shame about Fernando though. Hopefully he can recover. Also be interesting to see what the Mercs do. Ferrari though need to beat Verstappen off the line IMO to stand any chance
Disgusted by the reports of the behaviour of some fans. Hope something is done about it |

A clean start with Sainz briefly going off. All that orange smoke.

It's not really going Super Max's way, as Leclerc gets past.

Sainz's engine blows and the car turns into a bonfire. VSC.

Enjoyed that race - honestly not that much tension at the front but the mid-pack racing was pretty epic.

Pretty decent race today. Ferrari showed they are still in the hunt pace wise, but gutted for Sainz. That would have been 1-2.
Verstappen seemed very magnanimous anout the result and towards Sainz and Perez. |

Strange how the Haas has found so much pace again. Has Ferrari increased power of their PU or has Haas identified a small but critical issue with their aero?

I think the manner in which Leclerc passed Verstappen a few times supports the former point. It may be that the factory team gets the updates first as well as the teething problems that go with them. |

Well I was considering that, although Alfa Romeo did not seem to make a step like Ferrari and Haas. Perhaps as you say, they don't run the PU like Ferrari and Haas do or maybe it was just the Red Bull Ring not suiting the Alfa covering up the improved PU performance? The alternative explanation being that both Haas and Ferrari have made a step in another area and just happen to be on the same PU. |

Superb drive over the last few laps by Chas. Think about that: trying to drive an F1 car competitively with a sticking throttle And I might be wrong but I didn't once notice him locking up the fronts, even though the brake balance must have been a mile out.
Something needs to be done about spectators bringing in smoke flares. It has now got out-of-hand and was potentially dangerous at the start of the race. I also noticed at least one flare being thrown. Those things get hot! In one sense it was good to see track limits penalties being handed out for all infringements. But it's time to totally review "kerbs", which have grown out of all proportion over the years. I would suggest getting rid of them completely (apart from a little edging to stop the tarmac crumbling). If you only give the drivers a black bit, that's what they'll drive on. |
