Hi Bob, I'm enjoying looking at your photos, as always. Am interested to know the model of car #23 in Post 5376? Looks like a Morgan SLR, which I think there were only three made, none painted blue.

https://www.goodwood.com/grr/race/hi...-a-morgan-slr/ 'In 1960 a club racer by the name of Neil Dangerfield got into racing Triumphs. Good fortune on track in his TR3A spurred him to purchase a brand new TR4. It too did brilliantly, with the car’s preparer drove it to Monza, took second in class and drove it home again! Enter Morgan Maestro Charles Lawrence, who in his search for a bit of investment cash for the advancement of his Morgan racing project, took over preparation of the car. Together with Dangerfield and John Sprinzel, the decision was taken to re-body the TR4 with something lighter and slipperier. The SLR body was born, by the collective pens and panel-beating of Chris Spender and Charlie Williams. The Triumph SLR was the prototype and the design would be replicated three more times for instalment on Morgan Plus 4 chassis – happily of very similar dimensions to the TR4 and indeed motivated by the same power-plant.' |

The car is indeed an SLR,however, it is the first car Sprinzel and Lawrence made based on a TR Triumph, the number plate has SAH as the car used was an ex-Syd Hurrell TR. I believe that Lawrence, with his knowledge of Morgans, felt the +4 a better bet. A close look at the rear driver side window shows; IANABM (I am not a bl**dy Morgan). |

Just for your interest (no one else will be interested). the red car, currently owned and raced by Simon Orebi Gann, was the first Morgan based SLR, and was delivered to Gordon Spice, who instantly wrote it off. Once the second two cars were built Chris Lawrence re-built it so it is both the first and the last of the SLRs. It has had a long history, being raced in the States for 20 years, before Simon bought it and had it restored to it's current condition. Mike Bell frequently co-drove with Simon in two driver races.
The silver car was the third one constructed and when finished was rushed to Spa for a race, un-painted, the story is told that Chris Lawrence paid a bunch of locals to polish the bodywork overnight, and it has always been kept in this format. All three are regularly raced in historic events with great success. Bob. |

Late 50's and early 60's sports and GT cars are most evocative.
Equally financially evasive ! Which reminds me, Zef Jr inherited a '57 TR3 a few years ago which we need to finish restoring. |

Some of the Lancia contingent at the start of 2011 Historic Monte Carlo Rally.
Superb period details on all the cars, marred only by the addition of a Glasgow City Council Parking Penalty Notice, displayed in one of them... |

Nice and interesting pics Malcolm, thanks. Love the 240 Z (genuine Safari or look alike) and what seems a TA23, the outside mirrors are just amazing! Surprinsingly the last Fanalone is… RHD!
