Rolex 24 2010
I was looking for a suitable thread but could not find one so.....
The "Roar before the 24" is this weekend and the season opener is just 3 weeks away so that is a nice prospect as I sit here and look at all that white stuff. Does anybody know if we have a prospect of TV in the UK? The Grand-Am wesite shows Speed TV, will Motors or Eurosport be taking the feed? |

I was there last January and am going back again this time - can't wait!
My photos are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chocmon...7613166371660/ There are usually web streams available of the SpeedTV coverage which will appear nearer the time. I know guys who are going to be there this weekend for the Roar and will be posting reports and photos on www.garra-fans.com |

Dont think so - the forecasts arent so bad !!! Today they announced the entry from Timo and Romain in TRG#71 - there will be a huge battle in GT-class. So many world-class drivers !!! 6 Porsche work drivers + Farnbacher, Ragginger, Lux, Menten, Bleekemolen, OYoung - its like a Porsche hall of fame meeting !!!

just too bad they let Dirk Werner go. I bet he would have played a very good role.

for sure, he was one of the fastest GT3 drivers ever - but signing a work driver contract with BMW is a safe, long life job oppurtunity for him !!! And dont forget the things with his former boss Greg Loles.......(nice guy, but...)

Quite a few people from the site I mentioned are meeting up so if you'd like to join us just visit the forum there to find out the info. As for TV coverage I've heard that Eurosport will be showing approx. 7 hours of the race. |

while the Daytona 24 has become less appealing to me over the years for various reasons, I am always excited to see this race as it is the "kick-off" of the motor racing year.
I think I am most excited about the new Camaro GT R campaigned by Stevenson Motorsport, with Robin Liddel and Andrew Davis behind the wheel. the way it's going, it may be snowing in Daytona during the race |

????
to see the cars in the 31-degree banking on turn four - was one of the most impressive experiences in my life - and if you dont like the DP, ok ,they arent beautiful or with modern technology - but the battle is almost great and the GT field and drivers are extraordinary. |

Well thank you for that insightful post.
Quite a few top drivers have now been added to the list including; Bourdais Collard Maassen Hunter-Reay Luhr Westbrook And they are all in one team! Fingers crossed for a battle as good as last years! |

i know it's wishful thinking, but i'd prefer to see ALMS cars over the DP's anyday.
That said, i'll still watch it cause it's a good kick off to the racing season. I just prefer ALMS over grand am |

Given the other motorsport stuff going on in early January (none!!), the Rolex 24 is a welcome event to fight motorsport winter depression.
Sure, the cars aren't very attractive but the event has lots of great drivers and the racing is usually very close. Just remember the final laps battle last year, great stuff. Grand-Am surely isn't a series that's worth to be followed full-season in my book, the Rolex as a single event is pretty neat though. Session 1 results: http://www.grand-am.com/schedule/res...d=1480&sid=712 Five cars within 0.7 seconds, not too bad. |

Well, there is the Dakar Rally and the Dubai 24h. Both potentially more exciting, but also impossible to watch live. So I'll take what I can get, and that means Daytona.

Why is this thread becoming a judgment of the Rolex series? I would LOVE to be at the 24 this year. The Continental SCC race alone will be worth the price of admission. Say what you want about the Grand-Am era Rolex 24 itself, this year should be very exciting, a lot of unknowns, closely prepared cars and it is a 24 hour race! If only they had 24+ hours of radio coverage of the race, that would allow me to pull my traditional 24 hour race all-nighter and REALLY get into it. That said, I'm currently writing a detailed car-by-car race preview, I'll keep followers of this thread apprised of its progress if you want it, and if I can get it out there into Internet-land, I'll most certainly link it here.
