Committed to a start in February, equally committed to a finish late November early December. You can either space the events out with a four/three week gaps between every race, or compress it to two week gaps and create a hole in the calendar where the events are drawn away from.
Other way is to start in February and finish in September putting the races that are building up to the championship against football finals, and get slaughtered in the ratings and get virtually no media interest. Or start in April/May and end up being forced to put some southern state events on in mid-winter and miss out of the sport slow period after the major cricket matches and before the football gears up. While not to everyone's liking, it's a calendar that actually makes good sense to me. |

Whether or not they clash with football finals or not. Motorsport isn't the first choice of sport for many. Or the second. Or the third. Or the fourth.
To change that. They need to do more than just think about the placement of a calendar. |

If you start early March and end late November (like now), that gives you a 9 month season. Let's say that's 36 weeks. 16 events. That's about 2.5 weeks between events. In other words, some 2 week breaks, some 3. Just like now. |

Middle East commits them to February though doesn't it? That makes it ten months, and the three week gaps get regular complaints.

There arent any problems with 3 week gaps if it is a 3 week gap every meeting.
The 2 opening away rounds are a week apart, so it gets rid of the possibility of metronomic precision of an event every fortnight every fortnight... |
