What historic sports car to buy for endurance racing?

Thinking of setting up a 3 driver team (poss. all blondes!!) for endurance racing at Spa, Magny-cours, Old Timers, etc. Any ideas anyone for the car to buy. Want it to be quick but not silly money...

A Chevron B16 so that the car will then be as pretty as the drivers...not cheap - but then so I'm told neither are blondes !

Quite right and thanks for the info! What sort of money are we looking at to buy either a race prepped one or a TLC job?

If thats £75 each I'll have a dozen please

Have you looked at lightweight E Types ? Maybe a little less cash but unsure of what sort of thing you are looking for. The current Historic Gp C has quite a few Spices racing so they might be a good bet.

JVP and SL: thanks for input. Another angle is how much racing we could do with the car. Have been told that a GT car would be better in this respect...

How about a lovely little Lotus 23B?
Run forever and cheap to maintain.
My father spannered on one in 66/67 for a lady racer called Jaquie Bond-Smith. She was blonde!

Hi Jenny
If you really want to look at a 23B then look at Spadge Hopkins site at www.ginetta.co.uk, there is a section for Lotus and Other cars.
Regards
Tony

Just looked at race-cars.com site - some fab examples but all sold (and the price differentials were wild too) - couldn't get thru to the ginetta site at all. Anymore ideas?

I think so . . .although my limited knowledge of Lotus would say that it was just one of several engines that went in them . . . .

Hi Jenny
Keep trying the www.ginetta.co.uk I have just been on and the car is still for sale. It is the ex Rodney Bloor car and has been rebuilt and comes with FIA papers. If you have no luck try Spadge by email on CCGinetta@aol.com but note the capitals in the address.

After all your Euro racing it must seem rather parochial!!!!

Actually, it was a terrific race - in the rain and I moved up four places having overtaken two more at Camps, 50 yards before the finish line - hugely satisfying!!
