Groves selling his car?

Noticed on race car direct that Martin Groves and Paul Ransons car for sale? Is Martin retiring or getting a new car?

After him hinting at the awards ceremony at Shelsley that he may not be "retiring" i get the feeling that he will not be competing in his Gould if he gets a decent price for it.

If he doesn't get a good enough offer i think we'll see him out next year.

May 2005, Karl Davison at Harewood. Chris Merrick, has racked up quite a few points with a Judd this year.

I think Steve's only half wrong and Ben's only half right. For a serious stab at the championhip, you need the right driver and car/lump combo. Simply because a serious stab means when you've got a seriously quick car, you've then got to drive it faster than Scotty, Scarey Trev, and hopefully Junior on a regular basis.

I may be wrong (and frequently am!) surely anyone who has come to the end of the lease deal with NME will have to sign-up for another 3 years?

Not something to rush into unless there is not only an advantage in horsepower but in cost!

Not quite sure why they would be obliged to. Indeed, if there is a comparable lump out there somewhere, then a lighter chassis would mean the GR55 is now a gamble. Committing to NME for three years, pretty much means you're betting your budget that the combo is going to be competitive for the next three seasons. In 04/05 the call was right, but now it's a bit harder to make.

Sorry, didn't make myself clear! I was implying that if they chose the NME route I suspect that they would have to sign a 3 year deal unless they had the budget to buy the engine!

Either way as Blackc0w says it would be a gamble!

4 in a row?

Martin Groves & Paul Ranson have now bought the NME engine which is away being rebuilt.

Martin is "deciding" about running next season but it has been pointed out that only Ken Wharton has won 4 Hillclimb Championships on the trot so there is at least a 'new' challenge!

I'd be grateful if we could avoid text speak, since I've just had several attempts at reading that message, motorsport90, and I still haven't fully understood it. I think it says Paul is running the car without Martin, in which case I believe your sources are probably incorrect.

If it's a forum, and I suspect it is, remember the rules forbid linking to it...

I agree, Richard, sounds like a wind up to me too.

Of course..........it don't have to be true to be a rumour !.

But in saying that, the quote above covers pretty much every outcome, so apart from PR tells us bugger all.
