Nic Mann

Sorry to those who know him, I think I maye have splet his name wrong.

Didnt he used to ahve the infamous Morris Minor V8 twin turbo thingy.

Anyway, just saw a clip on Youtube about his amazing car. It looks like some kind of Caterham with wings added front and rear.

And apparently it uses a turbocharged BDA mounted to a 4 wheel drive system. Also apparnely according to the clip, the turbo is likned to a turbine of some kind to keep it spinning at high boost.

The clip I saw was a standing start and jesus the thing nerly left its tyres on the ground, absolutely incredible machine.

If anyone knows how to get hold of him I would love to drop him a line.

The Morris Minor was an awesome beastie. Not content with a V8 in the thing Nic put on two turbochargers. The last time I saw it the guy who bought it off Nic brought it to Barbon Manor hillclimb. He was used to drag race it at Santa Pod but found the confines of the Westmorland hill not to his liking; I haven't seen the car since.

Steve

I pretty sure when Nick ran the Minor originally it only had a single turbo, it may have since been converted to twin's, but iirc the single turbo was at the back of the engine virtually in the cockpit behind an alloy bulkhead, it saved having to have a heater in the car

I thought that when the V8 was fitted "originally" it wasn't turbocharged?

The V-8 in Nic's car was always turbocharged and by only a single Btn turbo. Eventually the turbocharger was converted to a gas turbine so all the boost was available all the time with no engine exhaust back pressure..... hence the phenominal performance. The same technology is used in his current 4Wd single seater.
