2008 Forum Pick 'Em Contest - Edmonton

2008 Edmonton Indy “Pick ‘em” Contest
Edmonton Airport Circuit – Sat., July 26

DEADLINE FOR PICKS: Thursday, July 24, at 8:15 p.m. (GMT)..That is approx. 1:15 pm. on Thusday afternoon in Edmonton, when the first full practice session begins for all competitors.

PLEASE Get them in Before the Deadline

-- The IRL makes its Canadian debut on the 14-turn, 1.96 mile airport course in Edmonton. This track is the best temporary circuit in North American, IMO, and it is fast, wide and creatively designed. The racing will be great here.

Not sure if it is a timed race or has a set amount of laps – See Milestones

Again…Please copy this template below and use it to place your Picks….

QUALIFYING PICKS:

1. The Pole Winner: (2 pts)

2. The Pole Winner’s fast lap in the “Firestone Fast Six” Session (2 pts.)
Carry it out to the one-thousandth place like IRL Scoring does:

NOTE: IF you get BOTH #1 and #2 Correct/Closest, add 2 "Bonus Points"

3. The Driver With the Single Fastest Lap from All Three sessions (2 pts.)

4. The Single Fast Lap Speed from Any Session(2 pts.)
Carry it out to the one-thousandth place like IRL Scoring does:

5. List the Pole Winner Again, plus the OTHER Five drivers (in order) who will earn spots on the "First Three Rows": (2 pts for each Driver in correct spot, 1 pt. For correct Driver, but wrong spot)

ROW ONE:
1.
2.

ROW TWO:
1.
2.

ROW THREE:
1.
2.

6. Slowest Qualifier (2 pts.)

7. Slowest Qualifier’s Speed (2 pts.)
Carry it out to the one-thousandth place like IRL Scoring does:

7. Driver who will “Just Miss” the Top Three Rows (7th Fastest) – 2 pts.

RACE PICKS:

1. The 2008 Edmonton Indy 200 Winner (2 pts.)

2. The Top Five: (Please Repeat your "Winner" from #1)
(2 pts for every Driver and Place Correct, 1 pt. for Top 5, but incorrect place)
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

3. Driver who will run the Single "Fastest Lap" in the Race (2 pts.)

4. The Actual Speed of that Fastest Lap (2 pts)...
Carry it out to the one-thousandth place like IRL Scoring does:

5. Leader at the following Race Milestones (2 pts. each correct at the actual Milestone):

¼ of Total Laps Raced:

½ of Total Laps Raced:

¾ of Total Laps Raced:

Last Lap:

4. First car out of Race (2 pts.)

5. Best "Mover" of the Race (from slowest starting spot to highest finish): (2 pts.)

6. "Backwards Fall from Grace" in the Race (from highest starting spot to worst finish): (2 pts.)

TIEBREAKER:

Pick the "Average Speed for the Race" (to the one-thousandth):

NOTE: I should be able to calcualte the 1/4, halfway, 3/4 and obviously the final lap from the total laps run on the IRL Timing & Scoring reports. In case the total laps are not divisible by 4, I will round it up to the next lap.

Example:

Let's say that the total race went 67 laps in 2 hrs.

Since 4 goes into 67 16.75 times, I will just score them at the following laps.

1/4 way - 17 laps
Half - 34
3/4 - 51
Final - 67

Good Luck

Here are your qualifications results:

No one picked Briscoe for the pole

Captain Crunch was closest to the pole speed: Actual 116.955 Capn: 114/785

No one had Briscoe for the fast lap

Captain was again closest ot the speed: Actual-116.955 Capn-115.036

In the Top Six, Captain & OpenWheel had 8 pts with 2 correct; Daisy had 6 with 2 correct, drewdawg and tThepenguin had 4 pts each and all others had 5 pts.

No one had Camara for the slowest qualifier. I would have counted Kanaan as well, since he didn't have a time.

Peno was closest to the slow speed: Actual-111.229 Peno-108.231

No one picked Bruno for the "Just Miss," but drewdawg, Peno Disy ThePenguin, and drdisque all picked drivers who were in the Top Six, so they got 1 pt. each.

Totals heading into tonight's race:

1. CaptainCrunch - 12 pts.
2. Peno - 8 pts.
(tie) Openwheel - 8 pts.
4. Daisy - 7 pts.
5. drdisque - 6 pts.
6. drewdawg - 5 pts.
(tie) ThePenguin - 5 pts.
(tie) NAC - 5 pts.

Good Luck later today!

I corrected your score from quals, OpenWheel...

Here are your race results.

NAC was the only one to pick Dixon to win for 2 pts.

In the Top Five, Peno had 5 pts., drdisque & drewdawg had 4 pts., OpenWheel & NAC had 3 pts. each, Daisy & Penguin had 2 pts. and Captain had 1 pt.

Peno & drdisque picked Will Power for the fast lap for 2 pts.

Captain was closest ot the speed: Actual-114.518 Captain-113.918

In the Milestones, since there were 91 laps, I scored lap 23, 46, 69 and 91.

Penguin & OpenWheel picked helio at the halfway point for 2 pts and NAC had Dixon on the last lap for 2 pts.

No one had Mutoh as 1st out

No one had Kanaan as the "Mover" (27th-9th)

Peno was the only one to have Rahal as the "Fall" guy: (8th-26th)

Daisy was closest to the avg. speed: Actual 96.967 Daisy-97.316

Final Results:

1. Peno - 17 pts.
2. CaptainCrunch - 15 pts.
3. drdisque - 12 pts.
(tie) NAC 12 pts.
5. Daisy - 11 pts.
(tie) OpenWheel - 11 pts.
7. ThePenguin - 9 pts.
(tie) drewdawg - 9 pts.

I'll post the Kentucky contest 1 week from tomorrow.

Wow - from bottom in qualifying to 3rd equal race result, I guess that makes me the mover of the race.

Great job as always Tim.
