pit bull should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Mentor wanted

I am hoping to enter my Nissan sx 200 in the BARC NW "Performance and Economy Chip Tuning Sports and Saloon Car Championship" formally known as (Ace Vehicles/Hillside) I passed my ARDS last year and have never raced before, done lots of track days Oulton park, Silverstone and Anglesey.
What I am after is someone with experience in the "Ace vehicle" championship, especially in the Modified Sports and Saloon cars class D,E and F. to be willing for me to phone them (lots of times)for help/advice and answer silly questions, even to the point of possibly popping over to Northwich (Cheshire) to look at the car and help pointing out things I could and should do, unfortunately the car will not be ready for the first meeting at Oulton park on the 29th March '08.
Please PM me if you have the time and patients to help a novice.

Some say he spent it on fags, some say he exchanged it for a traffic light air freshner for his race car. all we know is he's called PIT BULL! :)[/QUOTE]

pb,
Get on over to Oulton on the 29th - you only live in Northwich!

Chat up the paddock - there will be plenty of time, esp. between practice and race (unless the Race Sec puts one last in the morning amd the other first in the afternoon - it has been known!). Tell them why you are there - don't be shy! Pick up tips by looking and asking, and then try to set up in the paddock next door to some friendly soul, or at least a face you have seen before. I found that people already in the championship I chose were really friendly, and only needed to be asked. Though don't believe everything you are told - a newbie is always prime for teasing!

Your car will not be ready, for the 29th, or the 19th April or the 26th May - you will be developing it for years! Have a load of fun doing so!

I will be at Oulton on the 29th of march, tho in my normal capacity as Pit Marshal, I got the BARC NW "Performance and Economy Chip Tuning Sports and Saloon Car Championship" 2008 regs in the post today and I'm quite confused by some of the rules, according to Dave Taylor last year as he knows my car and the plans I have, apparently I will be in class D tho I thought with my speccifications I would be in class E.
My Nissan is 1800cc turbo injection, set up @ stage II approx 270 bhp.

pb,
Great! Great to see a marshal stepping over the armco!

Are you not racing that day because of your Pit Marshal duties, or because your car isn't ready? If the first, I would try to get out of them, as you will be busy all day, with only lunch time to get around the paddock. If the second, I would definitely get out of them!

As to confused and confusing regs, that is the job of the competitions secretary, to make them confusing but also to explain! There is a wealth of contacts on the BARC site - give them an email and ask for explanation. (http://www.barc.net/contact/index.php)

I like the idea of mentors, and I'd gladly be yours - if I weren't in another series, that is unlikely to cross your path. Good luck!

John thanks for your words of encouragement, unfortunatly the car won't be ready, I would quite happily take advice from anyone, as every little helps.
Thanks again

When your car is ready to go out on the circuit to play; try using a video camera (just remember to take the lens cap off! ) after practise or the race show the footage to a friendly face & they might be able to tell you where your going wrong.

Failing that you'll be more than welcome to play in the 750 motor clubs stock hatch!
