Race 2 - Lausitzring (GER), 31st May 2009

One week till race two.

Can Kristensen keep the momentum up?

Will Tomczyk still have Red Bull Cola on his car? (Reason)

Infield suits Mercedes much better. I'm sure they are going to win. But who? Spengler, Paffett or Di Resta?

What about weather forecast?

I'd like to see DTM on the first oval corner, like in 2003.

I'd love to see Paffett get the win, but I think the Audi's may be a bit too strong for them.

Couldn't manage to get some info for Klettwitz but is't going to rain in Cottbus, which is located to the north-east.

There were too many factors against Mercs at the season opener. At Lausitz HWA will be in better shape

Expect Paffett-Ekstrom battle.

Rain will give Merc's good chances

Last year Audi had good ballast in Lausitz, now they have only 1 win

Indeed I forgot about that penalty. Well,we have Jamie at least who can reach top-3. I wouldn't put all my money on Audi. Don't know why.
Besides,I've thought about oval racing possibility for DTM. R14 will have 10 laps gap ahead of the best Merc due to Audi's aerodynamic advantage. So, no need in oval humanitarian aid.

DTM oval racing? In NASCAR 43 stockcars on 1-mile high banked short-track works well, 20 silhouette proto on 2-mile flat speedway - no, thanks. Need another cars, another track. Another drivers)

Every time there's a crash they need to clean the oval (thanks to all these carbon parts)

Off-topic: IMO Rockingham and Lausitzring made the mistake to built an oval which is larger as 1 mile.

Besides, all that spoilers at Audi's back are easy to move away by Merc pilots
It would be 'caution' all the way.
The other question, why they've never used that long outside track. Are the straights too long?
I think it's rather stupid to use part of oval and infield. The character of track is smashed. I would better watch some 'flugplatzrennen'.

The long track would make the circuit about 10km long. It would be awesome for a LMS-race. Audi did test their Le Mans-car in the past. The late Michaele Alboreto unfortunatley had his last crash over there.

For a DTM-race it is just to long. They would not want the visitors to only see 15 laps.

Thanks, Werner!
It's interesting whether Tomczyk will use 'cola'-painted car this week-end.

Premat, Tomczyk, Kristensen, Jarvis are out.

Schumacher and Seidlitz have damaged their cars in training and didn't go out for qualification.

Rockenfeller is stuck in the gravel trap on his final lap - can't take part in the final session.

Edit: and the Audi's half a curling rock heavier...yikes.
