Crikey I will have a go.... all I can say off the top of my head is it looks like it might be something that runs in the Kiwi Historic Muscle Cars series.

Anyone interested in following the meeting over the weekend I have found a live stream due to start tomorrow

Here is the youtube live stream link in advance. https://youtu.be/2qnmEvvdwe0

Says starting 7am Saturday my time. Thats about 8pm Friday night in the UK I think.. Set a reminder.

Umm, how many 70's Mk1 Escorts had a turbo? Hmm?

Lovely looking thing though. Doubt it will be as fast as the Mk 1 1300GT I had in the day.

Just youth thing, of course.

Yes its always good to keep souvenirs as they are if they're good ones. The engine shown above could be a Pinto an appreciated conversion. As to the big turbo a certain lag could be expected.

All ok here . I had problems getting comfortable in the Titan . Thought it was the HANS device but turns out shoulder buckle was hitting my crash hat and I could not move my head . Still we are P5 and it’s close to P1. First race around 10 this morning . Poor MG David took a tumble pushing the car to bump start . Couple of glasses of red and he seems fine . BTW I’m down as Roger Greaney so even more confusing . I am also going to fly up to Auckland Wednesday to meet customs and hope to get the cars through controls . The container will then go straight to Levels race track and arrive Friday morning . Going to be tight but doable . Keep you updated .?

Nothing was as fast as my Mk1 1300 GT I owned in my yoof!

It was a pseudo rally car with works style arches, roll cage, bucket seats, two-tone paint job and I stuck a pair of side-draught Webers on it which I suspect did little for the performance, but they looked impressive when opening the bonnet, and they sure as hell made it sound fast!

Needless to say, as with most of my cars in those days, it met a sticky end...

But if I'd had a fuel-injected, turboed Pinto motor, like the one pictured, I reckon I could have really terrorised the neighbours. Well, at least, that is, until I wrapped it round a tree, which I'm sure wouldn't have taken me long...

Probably a good job I couldn't afford such a beast back then. Actually, come to think of it - who am I kidding? Couldn't afford such a beast as that today! £40K perhaps?

40K £ for the sole engine/gearbox may be you're right. As to the body I remember some countries don't allow to reshell a donor.

Very wet and it looks like Iain started off the back row of the grid.

He is showing as up to 9th after a couple of laps.

Got red flagged.... a couple of cars had spun and stalled so probably that. Showing Iain as 10th on screen.

Race has been called I think.

Iain got a dry race for his second one, and soon after the clouds opened again. Didnt get any vision of it but the commentators were talking of him dicing with others and he ended up a few places higher than he started. Im sure he will have more details when he checks in.

Great fun race . Must admit real eye opener . Thought these guys were taking their racing steady . Jeepers we went off and there was a good deal of wheel banging and cars spinning off . I started p33 again and ended up P 16. Got no brakes now so need to look at that in morning . Off to watch the speedway way. Happy days and happy Saturday .

Iain, I think a "Breadvan" Anglia is there this weekend. (Anglia with a long coupe breadvan type rear and faired in headlights). They were a common thing in NZ back in the day with various powerplants up to V8. Think the one that runs now is a 4 cylinder. Ray Hurst is the driver. He would be running as #105.
If you get a chance can you take a pic of it as Gordon and other 'Angliaphiles' might be interested. Thanks.
Glad you are having fun. Hope it stays dry tomorrow.
Cheers, Chris.

Oddly enough, I posted the titan pic but it doesn't appear here. I've just seen the others so will try to post them later. Within this bunch there is the breadvan Anglia.

I watched Iain's first race - it was certainly a bit of light relief after the truly dreadful rugby result!

Horrible weather for Iain, it looked like a winter clubbie at Croft or somewhere. And why did the the commentator manage to completely side-step Iain in the Collection Area?
