There was a model aircraft display on the Isle of Sheppy at the weekend and the organisers decided to top it off with a firework display, you can guess the rest

Any good planes at the display? Yes having fireworks there is probably not the best idea

For those of you that have problems with wasp nests in difficult places to get at I quickly concocted this device for use around our 500 year old cottage. I used to climb up ladders for years when I was younger and fitter to get away quickly but this is much better and more efficient. I can also fit smaller bore pipes to the end to get under the side hung tiles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5YT8WpAzgQ

There's a rather humorous video in Instagram of Patrick Watts treating a wasps nest.

I know we're mainly a racing-biased group, but my rallying roots mean I must comment on the passing of Paddy Hopkirk, aged 59 - forever linked with his Monte Carlo win in a Mini-Cooper - but who peddled many other cars with success.
RIP Paddy.... |

Richard! I'm afraid poor old Paddy was 89, not 59... Otherwise, he would have won the Monte as a toddler.

We should post these in the Tributes forum. I'll do that tomorrow. I seem to be in a procrastination period. Possibly similar to the Jurrasic period.

Do people actually reply to this crap ? you would think that these people would actually get their grammar and spelling correct and on DVLA headed paper for a start to stand any chance. In actual fact there isn't "any" money on my debit card because I don't actually have one

I'm between Richard and Gordon. Sometimes I receive a convocation to a police station located near John's house. Serious! A Sergent states its because I've been watching many sex tapes or have been visiting numerous porn Web sites. Me watching a pornographic video? Impossible! The simple idea is so exciting I cant type anymore!

Unusually, other than last year, I don't think I have seen a wasp so far this year. Or at least not for some time. There might have been one or two back in the spring. I suspect that the ones we previously saw were mainly attracted by the plum tree. Alas that seems to be on it's way out. Last year was not good for it for some reason but this year seems worse and the dry weather in Spring has not helped. |

Made a change from stories of deliberately set fires or poorly located barbies. Sadly it failed to limit the reports of heat causing the problem and being related to Climate Change. The AUS Army may have been grateful for that. |

At the risk of picking at an old scab, I believe that the author of my favourite comic strip may have garnered some inspiration from some of our "enlightened", well travelled members.
http://www.sheldoncomics.com/archive/220712.html All copywrite belongs to Dave Kellett, writer of the fantastic comic strip Sheldon. {D'oh - wrong link added) |

For all you EV fans out there it would appear that a "certain element" of people are stealing the charging cables from the sites ! Obviously they are getting a couple of bob or so from their mates at the scrap metal "dives" who are just as bad as those that pinch it in the first place. Lots of EV charging sites are reporting this and they are even being cut off of the chargers while they are in use ! what with this and catalytic converters being nicked what hope is there ?
I wanted to phone a mate of mine and his land line phone was out of order so I phoned his mobile, he said that a"certain element" of people had lifted a couple of manhole covers in his village at night and cut through the cables and pulled them through (probably with a 4x4) and cleared off with them. He has been off his land line for several weeks as the phone company are having to think what they are going to do as it is happening frequently ! Yup, I fear for my hone charger but not much I can do about it since they wouldn't install it in my garage.

Not new here unfortunately, our train company called SNCF have been experiencing this kind of thing for a while now. The main lines are watched over by helicopter but how they manage at night I dunno.
