Times from first session.
Interesting to see 4-5 second gap between lmpc and the radical. But overall I don't see any need to read a lot into these times. Plus it seems that the IMSA timing hasn't updated a lot of info from years past- for example the Radical is listed as a Porsche RS Spyder......

One important question: are Dyson still running the wide rear wing? I'd have thought that by switching to LMP1 they'd have to switch to the same width of rear wing that everyone else has used for the last 2 years.

The second session is ongoing: http://scoring.americanlemans.com/scoring.php

The Risi F458 just upped the pace and did 2:03.2. A good start for the new Ferrari.

You can wait, because by March there will be so much racing action around the world you'll have a hard time keeping up. So keep resting, drink plenty of liquids and make sure your internet connection is strong.

There isn't much to read into but the LMPC cars property driven (Julian, Ryan Hunter Rey, et-al) are close enough to be a concern on the small, tighter tracks.

Especially when you remember the LMP1/2 cars have been slowed down, while the LMPC's have stayed static.

its interesting to see that the fastest LMPC time so far in session 2, 1:54.936

the fastest LMPC in qualifying for the 12 hours last year was a 1:55.279

and surely they wont be going flat out in practice?

Very slow, but the exact times are viewable on the pdfs from the ALMS site, one of which is linked above.

This makes me wonder. Is the Muscle Milk Aston Martin running with the 2011 restrictors?

Their fastest laptime yesterday was a 1:50.530, but how much of that is 2011 restrictors and how much is a team and three drivers trying to get used to the car... we don't know.

i don't think this year's cars, especially audi and peugeot, will be more than 2 seconds slower than last year at sebring. but i suppose it will be even less.

If the Audi R18 test times are credible (and those seem to be numbers floated about on the ALMS forum), I think that a restricted Audi R15 or the Oreca 908 (the old Pug) can go quite a bit faster than a 1:50, and if the R18 and the new 908 were at the test and pushing it, they'd likely be faster as well (rumored R18 times include a 1:44 for a fast lap, with an average of 1:46 or so).

Either the restrictors have really killed the power on these cars, or it was a sort out run for everyone. But then again, they'd better hope that it doesn't rain, as there seems to be a threat of it today.
