New Anglesey Layout

Has anyone heard or seen how the new circuit work is coming on?

Heard last weekend that the shortest of the circuits should be ready for about May 2007.

Don't believe everything you are told Mark.
The date for full completion of all four layouts was always May 2007. At present the contractors are four weeks ahead of schedule.

The first car meeting is a BRSCC fixture on Sat 26th / Sun 27th May, with a bike meeting on Mon 28th May.

Bring it on

Diz

I have tried to get the 750mc to have a meeting at the new track on 07 but not looking good. They are all set in there ways and like the southern tracks....

I know! But WHY?

They could run possibly the BEST car race meeting on the Island if they wanted to - and it would get the support of Marshals from areas other than the NW.

Probably not the support of drivers though.

They don't really need to run any more race meetings, and their calendar is pretty successful as it is - so why change it?

that's not the point Ian. THey change circuits all the time. This year we had Thruxton and next year we dont so there is a good argument for giving Anglesey a go with the new layout.

Problem is the distance involved. Even Oulton suffers notoriously small grids (by 750 standards), Anglesey for most people would be an extra 90minutes away - so more drivers would shy away.
It's a great shame, if 750 were there it would be a fantastic meeting - no doubt. But, if feelings are that the grids would not be (a)sustainable (b)make a good meeting, then fair enough!

Thanks for that UDB.
I had heard from another source they wanted six events a year or they wouldn't bother. I was dissapointed when I heard that, because Anglesey is one of my favourites.

I've seen the new layout and it looks good, but I can't help feeling that they missed a trick in not extending the existing circuit rather than only using part of the pit straight, the old track was superb and full of character, just needed extending and better facilities IMO

I think the need for the new circuit was to move it further away from the houses at the hairpin, hence little of the original circuit being retained.

I am not sure that is correct Graeme although I could be wrong and I am sure Diz will put me right but one of the reasons there was a delay was because they had to buy back the houses on the entrance and this took time. So there will be know one in the houses. But I could be wrong.

with this being further away from the houses and the closest now being circuit owned does this mean that the curfew could be lifted???? hope so, night racing at anglesey!!! that would be great!
