Emma should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Formula Palmer Audi

Hi

I was in Silverstone yesterday, and I saw the Formula Palmer Audi race, from lap 3 onwards. and it looks quite good.
I was sitting at Abbey for the race, and I was lucky enough to meet Rob Jenkinson there after he crashed.
I met the Icelandic driver, Viktor Jensen too, he was sweet

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has more pics and bio on Viktor Jensen? All I found on the FPA site was a tiny pic and a bit of bio.

Thanks
Emma

He's David 'kid' Jenson's son, his mum is Icelandic and lovely, his dad is Canadian and famous, I think he was born in Iceland but lived in the UK most of his life. This is his first year of car racing he is only 16. He was going to do BMW this year but funding fell through last minute. Previously he has had reasonable success in Super one Rotax Max.

He's British effectively. The Icelandic flag is a good marketing tool though.

Quite a bit, and they have very few sporting "heroes" to get behind.

It's more distinctive being the one Icelandic driver than one of many Brits.

Well, in my program book it's got him racing for Iceland...
Ah, he's half Canadian/Icelandic - that's why his English was perfect.

Mackmot: Is that British F-BMW or just Euro F-BMW? Will he be doing that next year?

He wanted to do the British FBMW, I went to the Valencia licence course and met him for the first time there. He was very promising, taking in well what the guys there were teaching him and the advice I gave him. Its just a shame he didnt have the money because I would have really liked him on my team this year.

Emma is 14 according to her profile so I doubt she remembers Kid Jensen, unlike you and me Mackmot!

Ah, David "Kid" Jensen - those were the days...

Just for Emma and Bingman's sakes, Kid Jensen was a radio DJ (no so) many years ago - he was on Radio 1 for a long time, I think, and did Top of the Pops a lot, when they still had talented people who could string a proper sentence together without screaming all the time presenting it. Then I think he went on to independent radio and made a fortune - hence he now owns an FPA team.

Seeing as Emma has started a FPA thread, can I say something on it? We came back to the paddock (still looking for Andrew T) to find the mini awards ceremony that "Kid" was doing for the FPA people. They had loads of little trophies for things like, I dunno, fastest lap by a kid with long hair and stuff. It was a really pleasant "family" atmosphere, and everyone seemed to know everyone else and were all having a good time together.

Now I know FPA is pretty much a gentleman racers' series (Ryan Lewis excluded - not that he's not a gentleman, I mean - stop digging, Mathias) so you might expect that, but isn't there room in, say, F3 for a bit more of that kind of activity? Isn't that what SRO and FOTA should be doing? Just a thought.

Mackmot - do you know a guy called Sam Dimelow? He's in British FBMW next year. He's a friend of mine

OT: I like some songs from the 60s
btw - does Kid Jensen have a show on the radio anymore?

It would be nice to see them all being a bit happier and smiling more than the usual people you see in single-seaters, but that's basically because they're not all kids/young men who believe that their entire future depends on the result of the races they're in, they're just doing it for a bit of fun.

Y'know, I actually talked to a driver in FPA in the weekend who said that he saw Jonathan Kennard making several mistakes ahead of him but but he wasn't thinking "I can get the b******", he thought "come on Jonathan, you need these points for the championship". Very sporting, but hardly what you'd get in F3. Glad to say that he did overtake Kennard in that race though.

You do have a couple of young drivers in FPA, like Kennard, Rob Jenkinson, and Viktor Jensen, but it's hardly a competitive hotbed. I can hardly see the friendly, sporting feel there being passed onto F3. It would be nice, but as the stakes get higher, the emotions do too.

Hey! We're not all that old! Even music in the 90s was much better than today's music. Jeez, I feel old. I'm only 22 and complaining about modern music already...

Kid Jenson doesnt own an FPA team because there is no teams.

He used to own a Formula Vauxhall Lotus team back in the late 90s but Emma etc wont remember that either.
