Van Diemen RF86 FF
Hi guys,i am trying to establish the history of my RF86 Formula Ford in Europe before it arrived here in Australia 1988.I have been advised it was one of 25 cars used by Ford Motorsport in the Ford Race of Champions at Brands Hatch,circa 1986/87.It was leased to the Italian team,what i would like to know,who was the driver.After the event all cars were sold to Portugal to start Formula Ford racing.Any advice welcome.Thanks Pete

I guess the historians will want the chassis number to trace history down to a driver....

Vincenzo Sospiri was a front runner in FF around that time so he'd be a likelihood?

Sospiri ran in the UK in 1988 with John Village, i'm sure he was still karting in 1986. I went to the 86 GP and have the programme somewhere so i'll have a look for the Italian entry. From memory i think Dave Coyne won the FF1600 Race of Champions or was that 1985?

Yes, you're right, bit of a bum steer from me there!!
 Been racking my brains to think of other Italian drivers who might have done Brit FF around the time - hardly any came here to do the 'ladder' so to speak.... |
