Night Races

Why aren't there any night races any more, they seemed really popular when we had them in 95,96 and 97 and BTCC, NASCAR and IRL have them, and Formula One is thinking of having one at Sepang, so why can't they be brought back to Australia.

There was an unplanned one at Lakeside the other month....

Would be a good idea, but 1) they cost much more to put on, and 2) since the only thing that draws a crowd, V8s, race in winter, the chances of a big crowd turning up at night are lessened. Look at the latest V8 night races...not good.

unfortunatley i dont think the night races are a good idea...I have seen some down at winton and found it hard to work out who was who ..and the ones ive seen on TV didnt really have sufficent lighting...look at the GTP race at adelaide just terrible if your trying to follow who is in what position ..i dont like the idea simply because you dont rally see alot..oh ok ..you see flames and brake disks..but after the first 7 billion times this becomes very boring ..sure its impressive but im there or watching to see acing not pretty colours.

nup ..i say leave lights to oval courses where they can light the entire arena with relative ease...i attended the thunderdomes first ever event under lights and was very impressed with that as you could still see everything..kinds like a night at the clay out at parramatta or something.
