you assume that they actually have been able to afford to construct a spare tub to build up. caterham don't have one.

They could always buy Caterham's from a well known firm of bailiffs and paint it red!

in addition to a tub, i wonder what are their team strength numbers at the moment? did staff stay behind in Japan, do they have the funds to compliment their ranks of what i can only imagine is a very tired and obviously distracted track side personnel. they should be allowed to run in any format they wish too. not the spot to bring up FOM prize money but just wanted to say that this policy needs to be reexamined...while some teams may be deemed more integral to the health of the series it is important to remember that all teams carry the same risks by participating in each race. it is on that basis for which they should all be judged and treated as equal. |

Whoever it is - Stevens, Rossi, Lapierre, Marciello.....I'd hazard a guess they'll be quicker than Chilton.
sorry, probably not the time. |

As for Caterham - they should have a spare as CT05-#04 was used in Suzuka. |

I don't really get all the Chilton hate. He's no champion and brings a lot of money to his seat, but he's still decent if unspectacular. He's had a better junior formula CV than many of the other names floating around.
Bianchi I think everyone sensed was something special. He was in GP2 for 3 years and WSR for 1 and didn't take the title in any of those (came close in WSR), but there was just something about him that made him better than his results showed. I don't think it was just the Ferrari money. Not that I'm a fan at all of the 3 car teams idea, but it would have been interesting to see him in a Ferrari... |

Rossi has been named as a driver for the event along side Chilton, this would give the option of running in the 3 FPs before making a decision on whether to Qualify and race.

He's been named as a driver but Marussia have said whether he actually drives is being left up until fp1. I guess they want to keep their options open until the last minute

I think it's the right decision. It's not even been a week, it's too soon to think about a replacement.

I also think they have done the right thing.
It will have been a tough week for the whole team, I was actully in Scouts with there Chief Race Engineer David Greenwood. But it's great to see them carrying on and hopefully they can get a good result this weekend which would be a great tribute Jules. |

Running only one car may have also been dictated by lack of parts, staff and budget to prepare a completely new car in such a tight schedule.

Marussia won't be competing at the US GP, as they've gone into administration.

It would be extremely disappointing for Marussia to quit F1, especially after finally scoring points and Jules accident, but without the promised budget cap it was unlikely they were ever going to survive long competing against teams with much larger budgets.

So all three of the 'new' teams have now come and gone. Who's next - Sauber, Lotus, Force India... or possibly all three ?
