"The car's safety systems performed as expected."

Translation: the airbags went off when it crashed. Good to know.

Finally finished the second race last night, but saw the pace car had crashed 2 days ago via national news and the socials.

Rossi was highly POed at the end of race 2 and when asked what happened, he said "ask these guys", pointing at his crew. At first, I thought "you terd", but then recalled the massive front wing change made on the last stop. He obviously slowed while RHR picked up the pace. Team mistake or shall I grab my tinfoil hat?

Congrats to Dixon. Made race 1 look easy!!

I thought it was a combination of pressure from RH-R and Rossi's tyres going off. RH-R was on much fresher rubber.

He indeed had 6 lap fresher rubber so it could be as simple as that, but I'd like to see times for Rossi and know what changes were made. It was him that got the big change on the last stop right? Can't find anything on that but did find this where Rossi admits the mistake and mentioned that he struggled with front grip all day later in his runs:

Also, says it was strange for the outside tire to lock up...

That's a bit of a disappointing wah from Rossi. The wing might have been dodgy but that was all him when he went straight ahead.

That's what it looked like. RH-R drove flawlessly, Rossi made one small mistake that could be blamed on trying to go a teeny weeny bit too fast on older tires. His post-race interview sure had the optics of whining and shifting blame, but that was in the moment. Still though, nice to see such a happy winner as a contrast.

Agreed. Think it was too mistakes, but at the same time, when he pitted vs RHR didn't assist him much at all.
