Robert Ryan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
An endurance event would be a 24hr race...Unfortunately as cars get more reliable, the longer the race has to be, to make it a true endurance event.
In the very early years of "racing" 1880'-1900's a short 50 mile drive was an "endurance" event.

Your definition of a race and what mine of race are obviously very different, so in order to stop this going around in circles for another 20 posts, I think we better call this one.

Don't bother to contact the organisers through their website(www.bimf.com.au).They can't be bothered in ever replying-great pr for someone trying to establish an event.

I posted my entry today. The races are for Historic Touring cars, Aust GT and V8 utes. Interestingly, the V8 ute races feature a compulsory driver change.

Robert,
some of us 'died in the wool' types (aka Cavvy) have gone nowhere, just enjoy our motorsport - take your point though, how about some middle ground a 12 hour 6am to 6pm - V8SCs & Sporties - sprinters & stayers?

Still getting a little "endurancy" for some. When you have a race that is only covered by "highlights" it seems to have a hard time trying to get a larger audience.

People power has spoken! The BIMF organisers have decided to now open the top of the mount and will be running a shuttle bus.Their answer to another point raised about the number of races for each class on Sunday was a bit more unclear. They have said there will be 80 minutes (4 races?) of racing on the Sunday plus a 30 minute Legends race(old drivers in V8 Utes).I still think this is a bit light on for racing and they would have been better off running the event over 3 days rather than trying to stretch it out to 4.Also does anyone have anything more definite about whether the Aussie Race Cars will still be at the meeting?

sunday

Vanilla Dice has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Why dont they just give the date to the V8SA.

No point showing off a heap of OHOS cars that mean nothing to the uncultured, unwashed people who go to most motor racing meetings.

Give em Supercars. Its what they want. Tony said so.

Seems like the rumour run on this site about Aussie Racing Cars not appearing at Bathurst are true.An ad for the event appears in this week's Motorsport News listing the attractions and there is no mention of them (although they are still mentioned in a news story on the event in the same magazine). There is no replacement category listed which now means there are 6 20 minute races in a 4 day event plus the ute legends demo's.I wonder if this is a dispute btween Phil Ward and CAMS (and if so how does this effect the rest of their calendar) or as I suspect between Phil Ward and the event organisers.I would hate to be the promoter or Bathurst ratepayer underwriting the cost of what is shaping to be a financial debacle.

The ad they are running on the radio here say Gt performance cars, whick are evo's and such. They cant even get that right. I live in Bathurst and unless I can grab a freebie I wont be going.

What MN does say is that Team Australia is going to demonstrate a Champcar at the meeting, theyre expecting a lap under 2 minutes. That would be worth watching by itself!

I thought that Bathurst wasn't licenced to run any open- wheelers quicker than a formula ford?

That is for racing, this will be a demonstration. Mind you if it falls of the blacktop trying for a quick lap time as alluded to, there will be some tricky questions to answer.
