No way that banking is only 6 degrees.
Where's Purist when we need a pothole check???? Thanks DF for your reports, saves a lot of looking around. Hey claus, they put that promotion out as national news. How many people in Miami do you think they got the word to? |

DF, I don't think that was your error, it was probably just the spec from the origional configuration of the track. But it is steep now, for sure.

No offense to the diehards, but the natives have clubs to go to and skirts to chase. 30 bucks is 3 or 4 drinks, so I'm gonna say it would have been worthless anyway. Unless you can convince people that Helio is Cuban. I mean, I'd have gone if I didn't already have tickets to Petit and I could have gotten roundtrip tickets cheap. |

Yeah, no sense in Izod running promotions to sell clothes. And if IndyCar invests in promotions that actually put people in the stands, it would be harder for them to blame ISC when nobody shows.
That's cool, nobody in Las Vegas will be watching anyway. Bruton and Bernard will just tell them how great the 2011 finale will be, and Vegas promoters will start a bidding war to take advantage of the fabulous opportunity. If you can't get people in Miami to spend $30 and drive an hour to watch an early evening race, you won't be able to get Vegas crowds to make the same trip for a more expensive ticket. They have a lot more to do than go clubbin'. |

Danica ran a great race. She is tough on these 1 1/2 mile ovals.
I was shocked at how empty the stands were. |

DF, that was some fine racing, wasn't it? TK made his car about ten feet wide, Danica fought past him anyway. Good stuff!
The crowd was even worse than last year, which was totally predictable thanks to Indycar management. They have no justification for raising sanctioning fees, and had no reason to announce the termination of this event from the schedule before it was run. IndyCar seems stuck with the notion that they don't have to promote their races. It was obvious all season that the lack of Nascar ticket buyers at ISC tracks was another problem to deal with, and it was ignored. That's a real failure, since half of the races this year were pretty entertaining shows. Tonight was another good race. Who's watching? Trolls like me, I guess. And if a potential sponsor turns on the tube, or visits a corporate event at the track, they probably wonder why only trolls are there. If IndyCar won't back their own product, why should anybody else? |
