If TPC is moving on from the Audis then I wonder if that might entail tapping the good folk of Dynamics to build a pair of proven race winners? Just wondering

You mean like it's sister team MB Motorsport, formally AMD?

I read somewhere that the Audi A3 has one of poorest aero efficencies in terms of drag...? Is that true?

I seem to remember Robb Holland saying this or words to the effect way back in the day.

Time for a bit of fantasy thinking then....

If you were AMD/TPC/MB looking to get towards the pointy end of the grid with some shiny new cars, what would you go for and why? Would you approach another team to build an existing car or build something new?

Mmm....

Simple truth is unless you are an experienced race team with lots of skilled resource then building a new car can simply be building a bit of a dog.

Outside of Dynamics, WSR and Motorbase we've not had any consistent championship challengers in recent years (I've not included BMR as they're not around as such - though AS credits them for their work on the Infiniti). Of course I could have forgotten someone, I regularly do...

PMR, Speedworks and Ciceley have all built race winners. RAR achieved wins too. But most other builders simply didn't.

Conversely BTC and AmD did very well utilising cars designed and built by Dynamics.

I've no idea how much a shiny new Civic from Dynamics costs, but it will be at the pointy end if good people engineer and drive it and there is suitable budget.

New build of a car from scratch? Probably quite a bit cheaper, but you need people capable of design, build and engineering it, plus a driver with car development skills.

You pays your money... my first port of call would be a chat with that nice Mr Neal.

So far, TPC have worked with AmD to run their Audis in BTCC, and PMR to run their Leons in TCR.

With HARD. bringing Cupras to the grid next year, I would imagine DK is weighing up the permutations of PMR/AmD/HARD. and Audi/Cupra and will end up with a totally different car and team running them....

3 series BMW is the car I would try to get my hands on if I was a team that was not going to make their own car from scratch.

Would WSR build a new one for a 3rd party if the money was right? Jordan's old car is presumably sat under a dust sheet somewhere (unless I have missed something).

Or alternatively if we are not wanting to flood the grid with even more Civics, then the focus seems to be an improved weapon this year.

To be honest, there is a long list of cars that are going well - Sutton is doing his usual magic with the Infiniti, and I keep hoping / expecting someone to stump up the cash to run a 2nd Toyota, and the Hyundai's have been pretty decent for a brand new car.

Yes. They were not there during the video showing work to put Rory's car back together. Contract build for A N Other, new cars for Motorbase, just for spares? Who knows, RS67 might have an inkling...

The car at the front is a proper Mustang (not the modern $h1t), which was fully assembled when last seen - historic racing project or one of the Motorbase boys own wheels?

They could be seen in the video as well, 2:46 in the 5min video.
At first I thought the bottom one was a saloon car, but you're right they both appear to be Focuses.

I’m sure there have been more than a couple of team bosses enquiring as to Barties price for a couple of new Focui or is it Focuses or Focus’s?!?!?

TPCR were definitely looking at options to replace the Audi’s & I’m sure the fact the Shaun has run customer cars from Motorbase won’t hurt if they continue running the cars for Mr Kirby.

Latest lockdown could hit those teams that were borderline for next year, due to the nature of their income/backing.

The good news is another team has pretty much committed to buying new cars, so either a home for those shiny Ford's spotted in the Motorbase workshop, or Dynamic's could be in line for some more custom. Would like to see some customer 3 series too, but hey that might be more of a dream than reality.

I think it's clear S Griffin meant drivers who fund their own drive, rather than relying on sponsorship backing.

If you want to be pedantic about it - every driver who doesn't pay for their seat from their own finances isn't a pay driver.
