2018 Historic race dates and club calendar thread

That time of year again. Had to de-ice the windscreen yesterday, and wearing shorts rather than jeans is becoming questionable...

Please add any dates or club calendars you are aware of, so they can be added to the HRT calendar, which several have told me is a valuable resource...

Peter M has already added two of the meetings he's entering , but another he may be considering is the Algarve Classic in October. No idea what series will be racing there, but I'm guessing more of the same. The event will be held a week earlier than this year, October 19th to 21st.

Peter Auto announced their 2018 Calendar recently to existing competitors_

6-8 April Barcelona. (Espiritu de Montjuic, previously the home of Masters HR.)

18-20 May. Spa Classic.

8-10 June. Dijon GP de l'Age d'Or. (No GpC)

6-8 July. Le Mans Classic. Will include race for GpC.

31 Aug- 2 Sept. Dix Mille Tours du Castellet. (Paul Ricard.)

28-30 Sept. Hungaroring Classic. (No GpC) This is dependent on enough interest / advance deposits!

26-28 Oct. Imola Classic. (Looking forward to revisiting the backstreet pizza place and best Calzone ever. Hope it's still there...)

Mike, a couple of provisional (but likely) VSCC dates

Pomeroy Trophy (Silverstone) - Sat 24th Feb

VSCC Formula Vintage Round 1 - Silverstone 21st / 22nd April - previously known as the Spring Start

There are some other dates floating about but I understand they are even more 'provisional'.

Goodwood Revival is 'provisional' at Sept 7th to 9th, and Spa 6hrs follows a week later as usual- 14th to 16th. If PA dates are as suggested that means no clashes! As Revival is unlikely to be on my radar September is looking quite civilised......

BTW the PA Barcelona meeting in April is subject to the area being 'stable' politically. We were advised when trucking through Catalunya recently not to stop for the night there, as petty crime was rife at that time. Fingers crossed its all sorted soon, as it's a great place to start the season. You never know, Britney may even have ferries running and be willing to take freight bookings! Or maybe that's asking too much....

For those fancying a trip to trip to the Nurburgring next summer but thinking the August 'Oldtimer' is now too commercial, the 'Nurburgring Classic' will be held June 15-17th. It was held for the first time this year to celebrate the circuit's 90th anniversary.

As part of the event, there will be a 3hr 'ADAC Eifelrennen' race taking place for FHR and Youngtimer cars. Not sure if on the GP track or the Nordschleife, but would put money on the former.....

Although have nothing concrete either way, I'm guessing HSCC Silverstone International meeting will be same weekend, which will be a shame if correct!

22 March. Brands test day

20-22 April. Imola 'Motor Legend Festival'

26-27 May. Brands Hatch Maters Festival

22-24 June. The Most (Czech) Historic GP

20-22 July. Silverstone Classic (All 5 MHR categories!)

10-12 August. Nurburgring Oldtimer

31 Aug - 02 Sept. Zandvoort HGP

14-16 Sept. Spa 6rs meeting

12-14 October. Dijon Motors Cup.

Press release here- http://www.mastershistoricracing.com...-highlight-ma/

Peter Auto have confirmed that there will be no visit to Hungary in 2018, and this is the final calendar....

https://peterauto.peter.fr/en/2018-series-calendar/

Interesting that drivers of any GpC cars wanting to compete in the LMC race must do two qualifying races beforehand. Looks like this is targeting possible USA entries as well as any other newcomers, hence the tie-up with HSR over there.....

Yes I noticed those dates in the C&SC mag but they're not yet listed on the VSCC website or newsletter so I omitted them 'just in case'. They do look about right based on recent years so they probably have some insider information....

Yes, one would hope the dates had come from VSCC, and the journo hadn’t made them up!

Mike - slightly different according to VSCC press release today - 24th June now sees a return to Donington for the club not Cadwell. Cadwell now 22nd July. So maybe C&SC did jump the gun!
Gary

Excerpts from VSCC email that I've just received:

2017 Octane Club of the Year, the Vintage Sports Car Club is delighted to announce that they will return to Donington Park on Sunday 24 June for an action-packed day of historic motorsport......

.....The Vintage Sports-Car Club will celebrate the 80th anniversary of its first stand-alone race meeting, which was held at Donington Park on 23 April 1938, with a Formula Vintage Historic Festival befitting the occasion.

.....The Formula Vintage Historic Festival at Donington Park in June will complement the 2018 Formula Vintage Season which will have rounds at:

Silverstone - 21/22 April 2018
Oulton Park - 19 May 2018
Cadwell Park - 22 July 2018
Mallory Park - 11 August 2018
Snetterton - 23 September 2018

After my pessimistic post on the Goodwood thread I'm pleased to see Thruxton potentially returning to the HSCC fold . Glad to see the meeting is being held later in the year , although Mrs Cheddaris and I camped at Thruxton for the Truck meeting on the corresponding weekend this season and the weather was Curate's Egg to say the least !

Excellent news if the HSCC dates are correct.
International Trophy in June, no FoS/SuperPrix clash and best of all 2 days at Thruxton when it will be at least warm.

The Thruxton meeting is not an HSCC event but there will be one or two HSCC grids, possibly HFF and Guards Trophy.

That would explain the suggestion that MRL will be making an announcent regarding the meeting.....

Sounds like a proper 50th celebration, then!

Peter Auto has come up with a new event, the Richard Mille-supported 'Rallye des Legendes', catering for 50 of the world's most beautiful cars & visiting a different region of France each year. The inaugural event will take place on 11-14 September 2018.

At the same time Peter Auto has confirmed that Chantilly Arts et Elegance will not take place in 2018, partially due to the rather crowded calendar around its regular early September date. Instead, it will move to a July date in 2019, thereafter taking place in odd-numbered years, alternating with Le Mans Classic.

Question- who gets to decide which are ‘50 of the world’s most beautiful cars’.... The date is around when Chantilly would usually be? (But clashing with Spa rather than Goody in 2018 for a change.)

And before anyone comments- the event is NOT a historic race meeting, so will not be on the calendar......

The Formula Junior Historic Racing Association, or FJHRA for short, has several ‘World Tour’ events and championships scheduled for 2018. The former commenced in 2016 to celebrate FJ’s Diamond Jubilee. Not all dates are known yet, but the continuing world tour has two regions listed- Baltic Sea Region and Europe Part 3.

Sector 8 Baltic Sea events (Curt Lincoln Trophy) will be-

2/3 June Lithuania

9/10 June Latvia

15-17 June Sweden

Sector 9 Europe Part 3 (Peter Arundell Trophy) is-

4-6 May Donington HF

26/27 May Zolder

20-22 July Silverstone Classic (2 grids)

The last marks the conclusion of the 3 year World Tour! No doubt will have a big turnout.....

There is one date not yet confirmed for the FIA Lurani Trophy, and the U.K. Championship dates are still to be published. The latter will include a combined grid double header at Spa during the 6hr weekend, however.

To get it all over in one hit, the pre season Motor Sport and Classic car themed show dates are as follows......

11-14 Jan. Autosport International, NEC.

07-11 Feb. Retromobile, Paris.

15-18 Feb. Historic Motorsport International, Excel Centre London.

23-25 Feb. Race Retro, Soneleigh.

There- no clashes.........
