johnh875 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I was going to start a new thread yesterday (well I've started it for you now, John! - JT) but haven't finished going through my photos yet or uploading any, so I thought I would wait - imagine my confusion upon seeing this thread up in the top of the list, I was beginning to doubt my sanity...

I went up on the Sunday this year, it was a fantastic sunny day and not too hot, the racing was mostly very good but there was a large number of red flags thrown for some reason, mainly in the morning (6 I think). In at least one case (the Group Nc race) it was a kneejerk reaction to a car spinning off the track, as the car subsequently got going again but the damage was done by then. The first couple of times they reformed the grid and restarted the races - you can imagine the delays when there were 27 events (which included the lunchtime demonstration I think) to get through, so this did not last long and they day ended on time if not early.

A fairly unique feature of this event is the presence of the motorbikes and sidecars in addition to the cars, and they really add a lot to the day.

As I mentioned, I did get a few photos (including a couple of yours and Pete Brennan's cars Geoff) even if a few were very poor - experimenting with a new camera, no a lot more megapixels does not make photos taken with digital zoom any better!

I'll put up a couple of photos for now but the rest will have to wait for later in the week.

The Kieft Climax V8 GP car

The Climax V8

Talbot Lago

Camaro with a bit of Allan Moffat-esque battle damage

I don't know that this car ever raced, but I am sure people would be interested in seeing Peter Brock's first car, an Austin 7. It has recently been rediscovered and restored (with the help of the A7 club who also run this meeting), and is destined to go into a museum, not sure where though.

More to come, any special requests?

15minutes Saturday morning.
5 laps in the afternoon
2 + 4 Sunday Morning due to a red flag, which at least in our race was necessary with a car on the apex of Penrite.
6 Sunday afternoon which was shortened by 2, very much unappreciated and unnecessary as it would have saved them 2 minutes max.

Look forward to seeing what you have. We were tucked away in the garages, never fun really, so i really didn't see to much in the way of other cars this year.

It amazes me that you get such little track time...especially with a short laptime

Too many events. That is pretty typical of all historic meetings. Too much interest from competitors. Too many classes. Ruined by our own success I guess. Still the spectators get more value for money than a season of V8 taxis.

I love a great drive in Tassie. But their is a big difference between a nice drive around Tassie and a real race car around a track. Plenty of time for both....

Really depends what you are driving. And to be frank if you do that on open public roads you should think about it...IMO
