Yep, "Virages Porsche", "virage d'Arnage", "virage de Mulsanne".

We use to say "Courbe Dunlop", "courbe des Hunaudières"...

the "tertre" beeing an old word for a very small hill, that seems not to exist anymore by the way).
Thats one I didnt know - In English then that would be 'Knoll' which means 'A small rounded hill or mound; a hillock'

The accurate translation is hillock indeed. The Red Hillock.

BTW, Ayse asked me lately what meant Hunaudières.

The ethymologie seems to be german, coming from Hunault (like Hinault, for those who know the french bicycle rider)

Both seem to come from Haginwald (old german) :
- hagin = enclosure
- wald = that rules

Paul or Ayse, this lost thread is actually more informative than the 'All Le Mans city and track works.....' thread. Could we perhaps do another merge?
