Donington Mini Festival - Saturday 27th of July

It's that time of year again! This year the Mini festival will be held at Donington Park, rather than Mallory, and promises to be a big event.

There'll be double headers for Mighty and Super Mighty Minis, Se7ens and Miglias, as well as grass track Minis and Stox on the Melbourne loop.

Lots of other Mini-related activities - Mini club stands, show 'n' shine, Mini Cavalcade, stunt displays, auto jumble, and track sessions between qualifying and racing, and after racing has finished ('till late).

Some of the racing cars will be taking passengers around the track for hot laps too.

I'll post a timetable when I get one, but it's all happening on Saturday, 27th of July.

Hey Paul! We won't be there either - we're off to Cadwell for the weekend.

Still you can collect some more information for the web site, meet some new orange-clad friends and see how different circuits do things.

No I won't be there because some of us have to work. I rely up on you paul to get some photos of minis dumping oil all over the track and of drivers mooning marshals

Hmmm, it's either this or qualifying for the BTCC. Minis might just have to win because they're on the way down to Snetterton

MINI'S!!!! That means my beloved Voggie!!! I want to go but it depends on whether or not I'm allowed... I guess it all depends on whether or not my brother is working (if he is then that's the end of it). Anybody coming up via Oxford who'd consider sharing a car with a motor racing fan? NB: must be willing to listen to me rave about mini's, Mika, McNish and Panis as well as put Bernie in his place!!!

The 27/28th seems to be the most popular weekend of the year, this make's the fifth possibilty of things-to-do on this weekend. But, as my Mini is still in the bodyshop (large self-inflicted dent in front, rusted to buggery at the back) I'd not be in a position to attend in style.

Here's a timetable and some additional info:

9:00 - T-cars untimed qualifying
9:25 - Mini Miglia qualifying
9:50 - Mighty Mini qualifying
10:15 - Mini Se7en qualifying
10:40 - T-cars qualifying
11:05 - Super Mighty Minis and Fastest Mini qualifying

11:25 - 11:55 - Cavalcade
12:00 - 13:35 - lunch break and open track sessions

Track sessions will cost £20 for 15 minutes, and is open for Minis only.

Race 1 - 13.45 Mini Miglia race 1
Race 2 - 14.15 Mighty Mini race 1
Race 3 - 14.45 Mini Se7en round 1
Race 4 - 15.15 Super Mighty Mini race 1
Race 5 - 15.45 BRSCC T cars race 1
Race 6 - 16.15 Mini Miglia round 2
Race 7 - 16.45 Mighty Mini race 2
Race 8 - 17.15 Mini Se7en round 2
Race 9 - 17.45 BRSCC T cars race 2
Race 10 -18.15 Super Mighty Minis race 2 / Fastest Mini in the World Race

After the racing, there'll be more track time sessions, from 18:45 -> 21:40.. Fords are apparently allowed in these sessions, because Sunday is the Ford Racing Festival.

During the racing on the main track, there's also going to be Mini Stox, grasstrackers, and Mini Crossers on the Melbourne loop. I've no idea of times though..

Also, during the track time in the evening, there'll be the stunt displays.

Should be damn good fun!

Have any marshals on the board had a timetable though for this yet? I've got the sign-on times and passes through, but there is no indication of times for the events.

From the above, the phrase "lunch break and open track sessions" seems like a contradiction in terms for a marshal?

Am I being blonde again?

Hi Brickkicker,

Well, I suppose we get to marshal the racing...

I'll be driving down for the day, so we'll have to try and catch up first thing and over lunch.

See you there.

I am amazed the Cooper challenge isn't there? (Shame really because then I could have persuaded the Missus as a Championship supplier that we needed to go...)
Guess I'll just sit by the phone and hope for a Clio/Touring Car call up as usual!
