They are also being penalized with testing during the season as well. Many teams had engines issues and mileage directly linked to the test at Iowa after running at Texas.

Considering the series has new engines and therefore the problems associated with them, surely it would have behoved the IRL to be less punitive?

Tomorrow, IndyCar 36 will feature... Ed Carpenter!!!

I really didn't expect him. He's 19th in the standings and his best season result was 12th in 2009. I understand that they pick Hildebrand and Kimball, but not him.

Indycar COO Marc Koretzky, who first joined Indycar in May 2011 and replaced Terry Angstadt in December 2011, has resigned.

Current Indycar staff will share the job until the end of the season.

I like the picture of him taken as he walked out the door for good. Looks like a happy man.

Sounds like Tony Cotman is gone as well.

Probably they are clearing the decks for the triumphant return of tony george and brain barnyard for revised Vision version 327.2.

I'd like to know what would happen if THAT was about to happen. I'd like to believe that the team owners would finally grow something between their legs and walk out. But the reality seems to be that the owner will stick their heads into the sand, as always.

That's the first whispers I've heard of Cotman being gone.

Good source on that?

I know you have some contacts.

As an aside, other boards have people saying that the COO was fired and did not resign.

If this dude got fired, the pink slip came from the guy who hand picked him, then promoted him. Another Chinese fire drill.

Guys, what do you enjoy more? The watching the racing or bashing the organisers on an internet forum?

Tough choice, both are very easy to do and hard not to enjoy in 2012. Although ignoring or laughing at posts which defend the series and its management no matter what probably top both.

Is it defending or being realistic of the environment in which open wheel exists and hoping for the best with what we currently have.

Say what's in your heart and on your mind and tell the truth. If you catch an unfair post, debate it, the argument will either stand or fall on its own merits.

However whining about whether people are whining just feeds more whining. There's no point in that.

Sorry I do not empathize with you. These people that supported the hulman georges made their bed and now they have to sleep in it and apparently they don't like it all that much. Boo Hoo.

You wouldn't have anything to worry about, if the series actually had a leg to stand on, but clearly a lot of people are dissatisfied and a lot of these egomaniacs running the show don't understand it's a strong, happy fan base that drives success and revenue. If the hardcore formula car fan is ticked off you can only imagine how turned off the general public is and it shows in the nonexistent tv ratings and circus like attempts to try to find venues to run at and having their franchise fee savaged.

Rather than whinging about people who you don't like what they say, craft your own arguments to describe how wonderfully fantastic this indy racin car series is and debate the point.

The history books show what worked and what did not work and I and others many, many, many times have hammered home points about that and it's been ignored. The car is a back room deal, cut price profit in the right pockets, dallara dog turd, the venues and race meetings are haphazardly and poorly run pathetic events, the series has always lost money(even the announcement earlier this year they made a "profit" in 2011 was a sham), the indy 5 hunnert even has tons of bare aluminum in the bleachers, the drivers are completely unknown and many are of dubious talent.

If this business was out there in the real world and was not leeching off of the family business, it would have been stone dead many years ago. Only the largesse and big ego of the hulman georges keeps it going. Not one thing else. If that tap is turned off this series is like a fart in the wind and gone by tomorrow. It's an appallingly run series.

I don't know what is so scary about debating a few points. This is a forum after all. If the series was mindblowing awesome, then you'd figure they'd bring that forward and tell all.
