WTCC: end of Super Racing Weekend?

I have already posted this on the Sportscar forum (if cross-posting is inappropriate then please delete) but I would like to hear the WTCC fans' opinion as well.
A magazine over here predicts the complete breakup of the current Super Racing package by 2007, with GT going towards a full World Championship (with away races at Sebring 12, and Japan), and WTCC doing its own thing somewhere, somehow.

What do you think, will this help them, or hurt them, and which series will lose out?

If Mosley and FIA want, will help them. If Mosley and FIA don´t want, won´t help them.

To be honest, I don't find many sportscar races very interesting.

I've never been to an ETCC/WTCC meeting before, but I imagine if I did I wouldn't sit and watch hours of GT racing. I think a lot of Touring Car and Sportscar fans are quite seperate - I personally prefer shorter quicker races with lots of action.

I think WTCC and FIA GT are strong enough to survive each on their own.

Best evidence will be found this weekend of course, as the WTCC & GT part company for Brno & Puebla.

I can't sit and watch a whole GT race...gotta walk around a bit Walked the whole lap of Silverstone GP circuit at the FIA GT race this year...too bad they were racing the International layout

I totally agree.

The WTCC is the reason most people go to the race meetings anyhow, having just 2 short races completely disapoints me when I have attended trackside (Donnington/Silverstone etc).

The WTCC should have longer races, only by about 5 laps, the races are just too short.

If this decision means maybe longer WTCC races, I'm pleased.

Yes perhaps even return touringcar racing to an endurance format.

also they will then have more time for other support races. The Alfa 147s are good, Masarati's need a little getting used to but add in some European Clio bump and crash and it would be a good package.
