Just crushing for Aston. No words really. Not even going to address the tripe posted directly above.

If the #95 continues will depend on if Poulsen and Nygaard want to continue with the car and if AMR can build a new vantage.

Aston Martin conducted themselves in a very dignified way over the duration of the race, keeping in mind that Allan's crash was very early. The level of emotion in the AM pits would have been high and they did extremely well under the circumstances. I was ecstatic when Porsche took the 1-2 in GTEpro, but would have been just as pleased to see the #97 take the win. I don't think anyone ever deserves a win at Le Mans, they have to earn it the hard way, but Aston Martin would certainly have had the majority of the crowd behind them on Sunday afternoon and they very nearly pulled it off.

Here is something i have just stumbled upon, chassis GTE 005 is for sale.
http://cdn.astonmartin.com/sitefinit...e.pdf?sfvrsn=0 At Spa it was driven by Bell, Senna, Makowiecki and numbered #98 But at Le Mans the trio drove the #99 car Why the swap with Auberlen, Lamy and Dalla lana? |

What happened to Aston's GT3 program? Last time I checked they performed poorly in last years "FIA GT1" series and died with a whimper. Are any Astons running in GT3 classes this year?

It's fair to say Aston have overhauled that programme. Just check out the Blancpain round at Silverstone last month for evidence.

And the "FIA GT1" programme last year was a private team, with no factory support, running the by-now-ancient DBRS9 instead of the GT3 V12 Vantage.

I think for Interlagos they should honor Simonsen by not running the third driver, but at COTA and the rest of the season run Jonny Adam or Daniel McKenzie.

Aston-AMG
Aston and AMG have signed a technical agreement for powertrain and other goodies. This has been on the cards for a while but is now official.

Yeah but look what Maxime Martin did with that at Zolder. More the case of the driver then the car but still great to see the old girl up the front of the field again.

Excellent article on an Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3, specifically the Beechdean car (fresh from the Spa 24) |

Some interesting statistics in that - apparently around 19 Vantage GT3s active around the world, 18 race wins and two championships last year, and another 14 race wins so far in 2013. I hadn't realised it was anything like as many as that!
Incidentally, there's an 'Aston Martin Racing' entry on the first provisional entry list for the Britcar 1000km at Silverstone in September- a factory GT3 car as we saw in the 'Ring 24 hours & Silverstone Blancpain earlier in the year, or one of the customers running under the AMR 'flag' for the weekend? The blue/yellow 'Bilstein' factory car from the 'Ring was out in the Brands Britcar race a few weeks ago as a 'Strata 21' entry, with Paul White, BTCC racer Tom Onslow-Cole and AMR MD John Gaw. Has it been sold to White or just a lease deal for the weekend? http://www.britcar24hr.co.uk/home/wp.../roc_7705w.jpg http://www.britcar24hr.co.uk/home/?p=4118 |

Aston Martin drivers are in a reshuffle http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/110471... Mako in the #97 car with Turner and Mucke while Senna drops to the AM class car #95.

Interesting switching.
On the face of it you could look at it like Senna has been demoted, but that does appear to be their best chance to win both titles. They have the drivers to do it. The ACO rule change in the AM class is interesting as it's actually led to two stronger line-ups than before (with Aston adding Adam and IMSA adding Palttala). Most interesting I think is that Dalla Lana has seemingly packed up his toys and gone home. |

I've read somewhere in the comments that AMR's Gulf sponsorship contract expires after 2013. Can anyone confirm or deny this? All I could find is mentions in the media that the initial contract was for 2008-2010.

Interesting, but I guess Gulf actually only paid really for the Pro-cars (97 and 99). I think the Am (95 & 96) and the Semi-Pro (98) are mostly paid by the 'gentlemen' drivers with for example the NorthWest branding (Paul Dalla Lana) on the #98.

Interested to know exactly what drove Dalla Lana to disagree with the sport so badly.
