New LPP Game! Details below...

I offer, if interest exists, a new temporary short game mysteriously called Latin Podium Pack

Just in case someone is still reading this, I'll explain the point of the game. LPP is about guessing the podium in the next MotoGP races (not Moto2 or 125cc). The more approximate the guess, more score is got (according to a certain scoring system). The game would be played through the next three races: Portugal, France, Catalonia. That's the reason for the strange name

After Catalonia, a winner would be declared (and a huge prize would be given by Ten-Tenths Enterprise GmbH, Lvov, Ukraine).

Maybe we should not have more players because the average level cannot be higher than this (particularly if I don't count myself)

In a following post I'll announce the scoring rules. Basically it is concocted to make marcus the winner. I hope he enters otherwise we will be in a trouble.

Rules:

(I signal the "important" stuff with a bold font. The rest are details.)

(1) The player has to nominate the three first riders in the race (MotoGP). For example, let's suppose the player guesses the following podium:

1. Pedlosa
2. Lossi
3. Lolenzo
(I have scrambled the names to disguise the real riders. I learnt this type of "scramble" last year while seeing Sachsenring race through a chinese tv [this is real])

Now let's suppose the race ended with a real podium of Lossi-Stonel-Lolenzo. The scoring would be +1, the procedure is as follow:

If your first rider (Pedlosa) ends 1st, you get 3 points.
If your first rider (Pedlosa) ends 2nd, you get 2 points.
If your first rider (Pedlosa) ends 3rd, you get 1 point.

If your second rider (Lossi) ends 1st or 2nd, you get 2 points.
If your second rider (Lossi) ends 3rd, you get 1 point.

If your third rider (Lolenzo) ends 1st, 2nd or 3rd, you get 1 point.

If any of your three riders gets out of the podium, you get 0 points.

After all that, 2 point are subtracted from the total.

In this case:

Pedlosa: 0, Lossi: 2, Lolenzo: 1. Total: 3 - 2 = +1

The range of possible scores is from -2 (disastrous) to +4 (perfect).

(2) The scores from all the races are added and, obviously, the winner is whom has the highest total score. In case of tie, wins who scored more in the last round, then in the second last round, etc. In case of the tie remains, wins who guessed first in the first race.

(3) The deadline for guesses is one hour before the official start of the race. The timing is from Ten-Tenths post time.

(4) The "real podium" is the one that is celebrated officially after the race, except if within the next week that result is officially amended by FIM.

Let's remember that scores go from -2 to +4 , so it can happen that someone who gets particularly unfortunate with his guesses can score negatively! It is to say that he (or "it" in case of BOTTY) would be worse than anyone who had not played at all.

The other two rounds of this LPP game are France and Catalonia (5-june).

Ummm... it's not absolutely clear how BOTTY makes his/its guess in LPP (combining number of wins and grid positions somehow) but apparently the guess is exactly like mine... again!

The infamous "Clown" Simoncelli-"Little" Pedrosa played havoc with our guesses. Luckily Stoner did his thing and won cleanly.

Just one GP remains in this LPP minicomp. Dani will have to risk something (Rossi?) to overcome the rest of the (micro)field. To make things less favorable for the leaders in this last round, in the last 12 hours before the race one cannot put a repeated guess exactly equal to another valid former guess. In case someone inadvertently put a repeated guess, one point will be rested from his/its score. This way, there is a little more room for surprises. Anyway, guessing 12 hours earlier one can guess whatever one wants.

So BOTTY has won the competition! And jhansen has got a valuable Bronze Medal! Dani doesn't have to be sad, he is 4th and thus he is a finalist!

What's the prize for BOTTY? The prize for the Gold Medal is an exclusive night with 5 "playmates" chosen individually by Hugh Heffner himself. It is a pity that BOTTY is a bot and cannot fully appreciate the gift. Probably "he" would prefer to be with 5 HP hand calculators, but it would be unmoral and I never would allow it.
