British Eurosport and Road America

Last night I stayed up and watched British Eurosport's delayed showing of the CART race, which was delayed another 45 mins after the football went into extra time. As I didn't know the result I watched the "highlights".

What eurosport showed was an hour and a half of a rain delay with cars behind the pace car and two red flag periods and then cut the coverage just before the race was about to start properly.

I am not sure what eurosports game was, but this has to go down as the worst coverage ever in europe of a cart race (and there has been loads of them).

Did anyone else stay up and watch the full hour and a half of washout?

I think eurosport are trying to kill any sort of coverage of CART in Europe.

Obviously British Eurosport only took over the live coverage from Eurosport International. They showed the race live exact one and a half hour then they switched to Tennis and never come back with CART... Nothing new, Eurosport sucks...

Glad I didn't miss much, I tuned in at 10-15 pm 9as mentioned in the TV mag), no sign of anything but tennis.
So that's 2 weeks in a row that they've screwed up ......

Yeah, another disaster from British Eurosport. First off, it was delayed an hour because of Italian football (who the heck watches football?! ). Then they showed an hour and a half of ... nothing, even though it was *******' tape delayed! *nnnggghhh* Thank god for Motors TV repeating the DTM race.

The word is that Inter Eurosport showed the race for as long as their satallite time allowed, then were forced to leave.

British Eurosport is only a minor offshoot from IE, so could only show what IE did or didn't show from before.....

As to why they bothered with an hour of nothing...I'll never know.

Nice to hear Guy Hobbs back on the international feed though....wish he was in the commentary box!

The commentary is good this year with Cox/Shaw and now Hobbs. A shame Eurosport can't provide the pictures often enough.

If Eurosport were running an hour late (cos of the football) why they showed an hour plus of nothing is silly. All they needed was 1 min in the news prog before the race saying that the race was rain delayed and they didn't have the pics of the race so it can't be shown. Letting everyone sit though nothing was stupid.

You could see some tennis fan (there was tennis on after CART) sitting though the "race" thinking is this what CART is about? - Not a good advert for the series!!!!!!

I posted my views on this in another thread, my thoughts though could not be printed in there entirety without using offensive words.

I was a little bit angry that I stayed up through all that for nothing.

Can I sue for conmpensation for the stress caused?

Cart need to sort alot of there problems out, before they could ever think about being better than NASCAR.

Either the preceding programmes will over-run or there will be another Vancouver-style mid-race technical glitch.

Ah, so I'm not alone... Last weekend was my most frustrating Eurosport experience in many years of putting up with their incompetence.

First I watched the live coverage on International Eurosport, and after patiently anticipating a start they announce they'll be going to the tennis... It's the fact they made no effort to actually explain the situation at the track, but left you guessing whether CART had decided to call it a day or not. That's what gets to me.

So then I tuned into the delayed coverage on British Eurosport, hoping they'd maybe have the opportunity to go into live coverage of the race... only to sit through the same hour and more of rain delay yet again, for a long time hoping it was leading to some action I hadn't yet seen.

WHY NOT HAVE AN ANNOUNCER TELL US THE RACE WILL NOT BE SHOWN, YOU CRETINS?!

Other channels seem to have contingency plans for delays etc, maybe schedule a repeat of the race the following day that could become the first showing if needs be... But Eurosport show a few minutes of highlights the following Friday... well that's just great isn't it? Thanks a lot Eurosport. You'd better not embarrass yourself more tomorrow!

Eurosport are a joke with the CART coverage. I have been a fan of CART since 1993 and the Mansell era. I have recored every race since 1995 and my collection was complete until the last 2 season with plenty of missed races thans to Eurosports incompetance. I've now taken to making the most of my broadband and watching the races on CART.com or watching the race a day later on Speed Direct on the web. At least you get the WHOLE race.

Give Motors TV the CART deal. They do a wicked job on the other series they cover!

Nah its all free.

CART.com only has a live scoreboard and live commentary but then on Speed on Demand you can watch the race afterwards. Its at http://www.cart.com/embeddedplayer/s...ake+%28INTL%29 for the latest one.
