Sam Bird confirmed in the other ART seat for the Asia Series. I would have thought that would have gone for an experienced driver in the other seat (Yamamoto?), but with another rookie ART are testing their options more than anything else.

I hear the Ericsson deal is only Abu Dhabi and that Bianchi will do the rest.

Kevin Chen? Am I thinking of the right person? He is 30 and is driving for Double R in F3 at 30 years of age? Is this the correct Kevin Chen?

I had a look at his CV and he has not had one single good result in single seaters.

I think we're on the same wavelength. Is there still a rule about having an Asian driver though? Then again there must be other Asian drivers that are better ... Daisuke Nakajima?

I think GP2 Asia is on winter quarters... it stays where they get more benefit. That's because remained in Middle East for only 4 rounds.

Provisional list on GP2 insider blog: http://gp2insider.wordpress.com/

Still no Asian driver signed up... and for Kevin Chen, there are Fauzy, D.Nakajima, Kunimoto, Tung, Cheng, Chandhok, Ebrahim and even Khan, Shabaan, Al Fardan that should do better than him. Still, no one of them is signed up for GP2 Asia.

Reason could be there are no rounds in Asia, just Arabia cuts your list back to Al Fardan

GP2 Arabia,

You could add Shabaan on the shortlist, as he's Libanese.

I think that rule was soon dropped when it was clear there weren't enough Asian drivers (those with budget) to fill the seats. Didn't teams lose out on prize money or something if they elected to field two non-Asian drivers?

Hey, it's only the beginning, Kralev will debut in 2 yrs time in F1 And let's not forget Michael Ho will win at Macau!
Btw, Kralev will really drive the whole season, I've just received press-release from Trident. He will be alongside Ceccotto Jr., the kid will have a mature teammate

Good to hear about Cecotto. Hope he goes well

Razia has now been officially confirmed at Addax after he spilled the beans on Twitter a couple of days ago

Roldan Rodriguez has reportedly signed for Coloni. Finally - a decent experienced driver with a shot of the title!

Fabio Leimer and Alex Rossi are confirmed at ORT. Both seem to be good up and coming drivers.

Surprised by Rossi announcement, figured he would 'sample' GP2 cars over the winter in testing but more likely head towards an WSR 3.5 season in 2010.

Well, thinking about it he still could I suppose!

Nice to see a few handy drivers signed up for the winter series already though.

Bianchi should blitz it but then the likes of Rodriguez or Razia would be contenders surely?

Be interesting to see how Leimer does, he seemed to struggle to overtake in Formula Master when he started 8th, I think Bianchi is only doing a half the races so wont be a contender to win the championship. I would like to see Jon Lancaster move up to GP2.

2010 will be his 3rd year of GP2? Or his 4th? Either way, I haven't noticed alot of progress from him, a future in GTs beckons.
