Pirelli World Challenge Rounds 12 & 13: Road America

Starting this thread earlier than usual again this year, because I'm going to be there for the race weekend and may not have the time to construct this post later.

Coming off a few weeks break after Lime Rock, and only a week after Le Mans, PWC is headed next to the four miles of total awesomeness known as Road America, America's National Park of Speed.

Some updates to the entry list for Road America, most notably the #45 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3-R for Andy Wilzoch in GTA (In classic Lizards livery), the #98 Calvert Dynamics Porsche 911 GT3-R for EFFORT alumni Michael Lewis and the #82 McCann Racing Dodge Viper GT3R for Michael McCann.

Should be an awesome weekend, with PWC alongside Indycar in their return to Road America. RA actually had to add campsites to keep up with advanced camping orders, so expect a big crowd.

And remember to keep Andrew Palmer and Jorge De La Torre in your prayers as they both continue to recover from the Lime Rock accident.

No discussion from the race(s)? I missed them live but saw the results. Some bop talk going around about the turbo cars.

Big, heavy cars will get more power.

Power is king at RA.

Great weekend, had a fantastic time.

Random thoughts:

-Flying Lizard fans were out in force. I saw more Lizards gear than all of the Indycar teams combined. No kidding. Lizard logos were everywhere.

-BOP was frustrating, hard to watch even Nissan and Bentley struggling to keep pace at Road America. Both races were still pretty good, with plenty of action despite the leader going unchallenged.

-Stellar races from Alvaro Parente, double sixth place finishes is very, very good considering the track not being suited to the McLaren.

-KPAX Racing /Lizards were as awesome & fan friendly as ever, and the folks at DIME Racing, SDR Lotus and Mantella Autosport were also really great.

-New trail to the inside of Canada Corner is pretty cool, allows access to parts of the track nearly impossible to see before.

-New paddock shop is nice, but I kinda miss the old small one.

-Great GTS races for both Derek DeBoer and Jeff Courtney. Great to see DeBoer get his first win in Race 1 and Courtney give the Maserati a podium in Race 2.

Also, huge thanks to nasportscar for organizing the Caffeine and Octane event on Sunday. Cool chance to see the Mantella XBows up close, and really needed hot coffee after all the rain Sat night & Sun morning.
