So if my sponsorship $$$ payable to Team XYZ depends on engagement and exposure and there is none, do I cancel the cheque??

One would assume sponsors would be more sympathetic than that

Sympathetic? Probably.

Generous? Probably not. They are paying for the delivery of something, usually advertising/exposure. Depending on the precise terms of the contract, breach clauses etc, if they are not getting what they are paying for, and they are also being affected by sales slides (unless toilet paper manufacturer), they will have to act because their shareholders will expect/require them to do so.

You would expect that if sponsors pay for 20 races, and only 15 go ahead, then a portion (25%??) of the sponsor cheque may be reimbursed? Teams still get paid a portion, and the vast majority of team cost is race meeting related, if they don't race, no component replacement/travel/accomodation/crash damage replacement required

Shame Gen 3 isn't sorted, would be a perfect time for team personnel to make some headway. With limited testing, what else are they going to do?

A bit hard to do stuff like that if the cash flow is removed. Sponsors who have their cash flow interrupted will not be keen to part with any they don't have to. If they thought they had budget problems before they ain't seen nothing yet.

A decision has been made! At least they are optimistic if not realistic, watch the calendar get packed into the last few months of the year with good intention but little hope of it being completed.

The Northern Territory will require interstate arrivals to self-isolate for 14 days as part of new coronavirus measures which its police commissioner expects will last at least six months.
Supercars is slated to race in the Northern Territory capital on July 17-19, when the BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown would take place at Hidden Valley Raceway.
