Base mounted seats, can you still use them circuit racing?

I have an OMP race seat fitted in my car that was certified by the FIA but it is base mounted. I have fitted it with the proper OMP subframe kit, would this be eligible for club circuit saloon car racing as the Blue book can be interpretated different ways. It shows a side mount in diagram Q35 (from memory may not be right number) but says use the original manufacturers seat subframe or to this specification. Also I got a 6 point harness, does this have to have the hole in the seat or can the straps go to the front of the seat?

I hope you can, as I'm still using base mounted seats on my cars. Perhaps for FIA this wouldn't be allowed, but for UK club saloon racing, I think it's fine.

Thank goodness for that or I would have to change them on both cars, starts getting expensive. What about the hole in the seat for the crutch straps, I am just going to leave them running over the front edge as the size of me I think I would castrate myself if they went through a hole in the seat.

Well, as we discussed in the other thread Al, I'm pretty sure the majority of spits/mg's are using base mounted seats as well.

There fia approved seats on the market which are base mounted,safety/scrutinering issues with regard to seat mountings tend, i think, to concentrate on the strength of the mounting, not the type.
