2010 Predictions - anyone willing to go out on a limb?
Anyone willing to go out on a limb and make some predictions. Not the real obvious ones like USF1 is not going to win the constructors title or Elvis wont win a GP. Predicting things that arent regarded as dead certs by most F1 pundits. Maybe some contraversial predictions. I'll give it a go with mine (at the risk of being as wrong as I was about Schumachers return).
1. Either Manor/Virgin or Lotus will run out of money before the end of the season and be either bailed out by Bernie or withdraw. 2. Either Williams or Force India will run out of money before the end of the season and be either bailed out by Bernie or withdraw. 3. Schumacher will win a race early in the season, but not the WDC. 4. Hamilton will demonstrate that he is a better driver than Button now that they are both in the same car. 5. Torro Rosso will ditch Algursuari before then end of the season due to poor results. 6. In spite of having inferior equipment, one of the USF1 rookie drivers will surprise the pundits by showing he is talented and get better results than the car deserves. |

I'm going to put my wig on the table like Mo Mowlem
WDC: Michael Schumacher WCC: Mercedes Race Winners: Schumacher, Rosberg, Hamilton, Alonso, Vettel Mid-Season Replacements: Ricciardo for Alguersuari, di Resta for Liuzzi Surprise Driver of the Year: Hulkenberg Most Disappointing Driver of the Year: Kubica Surprise Team of the Year: Sauber Most Disappointing Team of the Year: Force India Other Surprise of the Year: Another established name will sign for a new team for 2011 Other Disappointment of the Year: Refuelling ban Drivers dropped/released at the end of the season: Massa, Webber, di Grassi Best new team: Lotus (if Stefan GP don't make it) New team analysis: all the new teams that start 2010 will start 2011 as well Disclaimer: not saying whether these drivers being sacked/dropped/released will be justified, though |

WDC : Lewis Hamilton
WCC : Ferrari Race winners : Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa, Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, probably Michael Schumacher, Kamui Kobayashi if he's very lucky. Mid-season replacements : I could see Schumacher walking mid-way. Surprise driver of the year : Kamui Kobayashi (OK, a surprise if you haven't realised his talent yet) Disappointing driver of the year : Michael Schumacher Surprise team of the year : Sauber, Lotus Disappointing team of the year : Mercedes Other surprise of the year : Lotus Cars buying a stake in Lotus F1 Other disappointment of the year : Korean Grand Prix. Best new team : Lotus, just. Campos will be good, if only due to Dallara. New team analysis : Lotus will be the best team, but British fans will struggle to get behind them if they make it seem too Malaysia. It would be in their best interests to forge a close relationship with Lotus Cars - hopefully with LC buying a stake in LF1T and reflagging the team. Paint job of the year : Lotus, in glorious green and yellow Worst paint job of the year : Campos, in something butt ugly. Last edited by duke_toaster; 23 Dec 2009 at 16:58. |

I predict that Schumy's return will be a disaster. Nico Rosberg could turn out to be the surprise package - Button won the title last year with the same sparodic appearances of speed earlier on in his career as we've seen with Rosberg. Could be a strong year for him?
I think that most would agree that Hamilton is, and atleast will be, a much better driver than Button. However, the 2010 rules favour Button's driving style, so it wouldn't surprise me if the are close next season. So far, Top Gear has given us the best comparison between the two in a Suzuki Liana. My boy came out on top |

WDC : Button or Hamilton
WCC : McLaren Race winners : Button, Vettel, Alonso, Schumacher, Hamilton, and Webber. Disappointing : Massa, Rosberg, US F1, and Campos. Surprising : All aspects of Williams, Virgin, Lotus and Cosworth. Most obvious new paint job : Mercedes. Team to moan first : Ferrari. Also: At least one team will be extremely perturbed by its pre-season testing, and another will be surprised (no change there then). No refuelling will be a revelation! WDC : Michael Schumacher
WCC : Ferrari Race winners : Button, Vettel, Alonso, Schumacher, Hamilton, and Webber, Massa, maybe Barrichello and Rosberg too. Disappointing : Stefan GP if they turn up, Toro Rosso. Surprising : Closeness of season, Sauber's performance, Michael's good form on return. Most obvious new paint job : Renault. Team to moan first : McLaren. Or one of the McLaren drivers. |

My only prediction (for the moment)- if Schumacher wins the championship I will run a lap of the Adelaide GP track wearing nothing but these!

I think Sauber could spring a surprise next year, especially if they hold onto nick. Towards the end of the season they were a real improver and had genuine front running pace

WDC: Mark Webber
WCC: McLaren-Mercedes Race Winners: Alonso, Hamilton, Kubica, Massa, Schumacher, Vettel, Webber Mid-Season Replacements: 2nd driver in all 4 2010 debutantes... Surprise Driver of the Year: Schumacher Most Disappointing Driver of the Year: Liuzzi Surprise Team of the Year: US F1 Most Disappointing Team of the Year: Campos Meta Other Surprise of the Year: Webber winning WDC! Other Disappointment of the Year: Refuelling ban, competitiveness of new teams Drivers dropped/released at the end of the season: Massa, Schumacher, Webber, Best new team: Lotus New team analysis: Manor/Virgin start well, dont have the budget to keep up development. Lotus shows genuine pace and some Gascoyne magic to keep it up the front of the midfield all year. US F1 shows up. Campos Meta shows up. |

Flavio Briatore will return and take over F1 from Bernie.
Vettel will be WDC. Schumacher wont see out the season. Force India will win a race. Kimi Räikkönen and Nokia will buy out Williams before the years end. Brendon Hartley will get an F1 start before years end. |

Schuey to beat Rosberg
Hamilton will smash Button, making him wish he should've stayed at Brawn/Merc. Lotus and Virgin will be better than expected. STR will assume the mantle they took from Minardi Hamilton for WDC unfortunately, Vettel 2nd, Shuey 3rd Webber to win another race |

WDC: Lewis Hamilton
WCC: McLaren-Mercedes Race Winners: Hamilton, Alonso, Button, Massa, Vettel, Kobayashi. Surprise Driver of the Year: Hulkenberg Surprise Team of the Year: Lotus Most Disappointing Team of the Year: US F1 Best new team: Lotus Other: All things being equal, LH will beat JB, but JB will drive well. FM will have the measure of FA. Williams will do okay (better than 2009). This time next year I'll probably be last in this predictions lark; I've got a reputation to live down to you know. P |

I'd want to see a Brit do well again, but I'm going to go with
WDC - Vettel/Webber. Think RBR have the edge with least changes from last years setup. Same engine, drivers... Reliability and luck will remove one of them from the chase. WCC - Mclaren. With Hamilton and Button, providing they give them a reliable car they should get enough points between them to get the WCC. Singapore - a Renault will crash, but race officials won't dare to bring out the SC. |
