as compared to last year's videos, in this video, the lifting & coasting seems to happen A LOT earlier than before, which might suggest a bit of sandbagging on audi's part so far, this weekend.

At least in FP3 the #7 Audi was in the same ballpark as everyone except for Porsche's Q run. Either Audi are carrying very little downforce, or they might increase downforce for qualifying/race.

well, if this video is correctly synchronized video to audio, then for sure they are purposely going a bit slower, because the lift happens much too early as compared to any onboards we've seen so far. that would also suggest the top speed might be higher than the one in the speed trap (which is already higher than last year) because they slow down a lot earlier than the point of the speed trap. it's quite obvious this happens anyway since 2014 on most tracks, but if audi continuously drove the way this lap was driven, it's even more probable in their case right now. well, time will tell. but at least this gives me some hope.

Also, their ideal lap is only half a second off the best non-pure qualifying sim run in terms of ideal laps.

that, on a non-specific, apparently very low downforce setup, as opposed to porsche and toyota. which gives me even more hope for le mans, which is the one they also seem to feel the most comfortable about.

Motorsport Total's article for FP3 suggests that Audi have been doing race runs pretty much the entire time in at least practice.

Qualifying article also suggests that the #7 Audi could've done better if not for an electronics problem.

That video has a big time difference between the action and the audio. There's no way they were coasting halfway through the pit straight.

Audi never provided onboard stream for qualifying. After 2012, they stopped providing onboard stream for the WEC, bar LM

Audi have the perfect recipe to have their worst Le Mans ever. Unbelievable!

MihokS5 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Yea, its REALLY tough to be an Audi fan right now. They just have seem to have fallen apart the last 3 years other than the 2014 LM win.

The crazy aero and multiple body kits coupled with holding onto the flywheel too long has made it just a brutal couple of seasons.

Audi know how to win Le Mans. There is nothing really surprising in facing issues with an entirely new car.

Evidently, Porsche are also having reliability issues despite the fact that they are running an evolutionary package. I am not sure it looks any better on Porsche's side at the moment.

Any info on why Lotterer spent so little time in the car? He got less than an hour.

Not that it matters in this race, I was just wondering.

The drivers complaining about understeer and drivability definitely tells something about the suspension system.
The DSQ in Silverstone probably renders historical data no longer applicable for the new car, while the performance of Spa shows that Audi still cannot get the hang of the new car going into Le Mans. Deep deep concerns for the Audi camp now.

Who would have believed that Audi would have the most reliable car ? Lol

I am just keeping my fingers crossed that the #8 car will successfully pass the post-race scrutineering...

Okay, there is still some hard work ahead before being in a position to squeeze more performance and consistency from this car.

The #7 with a busted headlight and missing legality panel at the rear is far more likely to get DSQed in post-race tech today. (again)

Well, at least they can validly claim that this was the result of a race incident. Funnily, they may even go through this one without being penalized. I am actually surprised that the race stewards did not impose a pit stop for repairs during the race.

2 races and 2 'wins', what a dominance by Audi

Unfortunately, I don't think there is enough time for them to get things together for LM. I'm disappointed as I expected far more pace from this car when I first saw it on November

I agree. The way Zander talks about the high nose concept and the 6MJ jump, I thought the car would be a rocketship...

Hard to make any judgment after such a crazy race, but on the reliability side it was quite good, actually. The #8 apparently run trouble free and the #7 had its share of problems, but if they were caused by debris, then it also run quite reliable. Still, I'm more pessimistic than optimistic about Le Mans. I think Porsche have more experience with their car and that can make the difference.

I do wonder if Porsche are really in such a good shape reliability-wise to win Le Mans. It is not unexpected to see Audi and Toyota being hampered by reliability issues considering that they both run entirely new packages. Porsche "should" have a reliable package and today's race demonstrated that this is not the case. It's quite surprising and unexpected.

The video is obviously on synch. The track positions matches perfectly with the audible reaccelerations

They won't do that much lift and coast on race pace but that also happened on the Silverstone's race onboard footage.
