GTE / GTLM 2018, on the way to a new GT1 era
Quote:
I remember that car. Wasn’t fast or reliable for that matter. I believe West Racing and Gulf Racing were the only operators of the car besides Reiter. Reiter ran the car at Spa LMS one year from memory, Gulf ran the car in at least one race (????) with no success and then we had West Racing in ALMS as stated earlier. JLOC were a bunch of amateurs with a small budget and a driver lineup that was lacking compared to Corvette and Aston. Were Lamborghini return to Le Mans with a purpose built GTE Huracan run by Grasser it would no doubt be a lot more competitive. |

I wonder what BoP they are using. Now, seriously, it is great to them testing. It means we will have Corvette Racing for the next 4/5 years in GTE class. Today it takes an endless amount of history to make even a little tradition. |

No surprise about that, you can compare the shape also with a camouflaged 650s gt3.... these kind of MR supercars have all very similiar dimensions and proportions.
BTW, any rumors about the kind of chassis construction? carbon tub or aluminium spaceframe? NA V8 or turbo V6 from cadillac? |

Thanks, from the door back they seem take on a different shape. And although I can't tell for sure, the Vette looks like it may be larger.

Many won't agree, but that's gone from my favourite car to my least favourite car. Now it literally brings nothing to the party.
The Corvette should have an engine the size of the moon and sound like Thor is having an argument with the sun. Instead, it looks like an NSX, and sounds like a deflated electric pencil sharpener. That car has literally zero redeeming qualities. A Corvette that doesn't sound like the world is ending isn't worth having. |

All GTE cars are starting to look the same, with the exception of the Porsche and Ford.

Yeah, I've always countered to people claiming that the Corvette needs to be mid-engined that there's no point. Particularly not after how good the C7 is - even the base model handles on par with nearly every mid-engined car on the planet. All going mid-engined does is take away the utilitarian side of the Corvette(what little there was) that helped it stand out from other two-seat sportscars. |

I can cope with the mid-engine (just...). But I can't cope with a mid-engine Corvette that sounds like it's having an asthma attack. It's pathetic. Where is Thor and his hammer? Where is that world ending sound that shakes your stomach as it goes by at Tertre Rouge and heads down to Mulsanne? Where's that sound that Lemmy from Motorhead would be proud of? Sounds like a damn BTCC Civic. People thought diesels sounded bad - this is a million times worse. They cut the balls off a Corvette.
Next they'll call it something stupid like an EcoBoost. |

Side window doesn't go back far enough in that render. Looks pretty good imo. I think the new Vette is very long. From the camo road car running around it looks like it has a decent length wheelbase. Closer to that of the Ford GT than something like the Porsche.

50% true.
Many MR supercars like 650s, 488, nsx etc.... share similiar dimensions size and shape proportions. |
