Hello.
I found you on the internet. I need some information about a Royale rp30 ff2000. I believe this car is built in 1981. I need too be sure too actually race this car because is needs too be built before 1981. Do you have some information? Best regards and thank you, Janscho van abel Holland |

Hello Janscho & welcome
According to Paul Lawrence's excellent history of Royale, nowhere to hide, the RP30 was indeed introduced in 1981. Chassis number RP30/1 was supplied to Fulmar Racing & raced by team owner Mike Taylor. RP30/2 went to Richard Dutton Racing & was just one of eight RP30's that his team ran. I don't know the whereabouts of Mike Taylor, but Richard Dutton is still active, running Fortec in British F3 & other championships. When I get a chance I will have a look through some old programmes & see if I have any results etc, but in the meantime I hope that information helps. |

This company is owned by Alan Cornock who ran Royale at the time. I am not sure if the RP30 was an 81 car or not. |

There were 15 orders for the RP30 by mid January 1981 - according to Paul Lawrence's excellent history of Royale, nowhere to hide. Paul is on here on TT as scoop
The first models were probably produced in late 1980. I'm sure Alan Cornock would confirm that for you. If you asked him nicely, he'd probably swear black was white that he had a prototype running in whatever year you wanted to hear |

The Royale Registry http://www.vintagegarage.com/rregs.html shows the RP30 as a 1981 car but as Diz states some could have been built in 1980.
In those days some of the manufacturers would have next years cars on display at the Formula Ford Festival in late October, so it is possible to classify it as a 1980 car although it probably didn't race until 1981. The official 1980 car was the successful RP27 which Richard Trott (who has posted here in the past) used to win the British FF2000 Championship. |

Thank you all for your information. I am also sure the RP30/2 did not race untill 1981. But I need too be sure if the car has been built in 1980 or 1981. In Holland the people I know have different opinions. The regulations for historical races in Holland says that the car had too be built before 1981. If somebody knows where I can reach yhe person who actually bought the number one or two I might get the information I need.
Thanks again. |

Yep, definately 1981, we have one which ran regularily in the classic FF2000 formula, although we haven't had the time recently to use it. It appears in Paul Lawrences book being driven by one of my sons.
Interestingly there is a picture in that book of an RP30 with a narrow nose and front wings, apparently the first ones were built that way, although I have never seen any wearing other than the wide shovel nose. |

Mike Taylor lives in Tonbridge and I know him fairly well, however not sure if he would recall such things as when the car first ran. Alan would be your best bet.

Dear Janscho
I've had a quick look back and I think the only way that the RP30 might have raced before 1981 was if Mike 'Fulmar' Taylor used one at the very end of 1980 in the old FF2000 winter series at Brands (or whatever it was called in those days). If someone can track down late October/November results for Brands, that will probably be your answer. From memory, the narrow nose and fins was tried in testing, but abandoned as no good and the wide nose was adopted. Hope that helps! Paul Lawrence |

Sorry, I've just re-read your question - was the car BUILT in 1980. I reckon the answer is most likely to be yes. It would almost certainly have been on show at the Racing Car Show in early 1981. |

I do not think it's likely the number two was finished late 1980. There was always a money issue so I think the cars where made one by one... Everybody thanks again for all your comment! |

Hello Esper,
In the year 2007 I will not race Historic (book HMR is closed). So there is no battle. Because I have no information about this car I asked it here on this forum, a open question and people give open and honnest answers. |

the Title is not my game! (I am not a trophy man) Last year I always saw the Hewland rear cases of Roel Mulder, Jan Steenhart, Mats Anderson , Peter Sikstrom and they barely never saw mine. so things to do!!!!
