Off at Paddock should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Who should be in WHT 2006.

Just a thought but which 'big names' would we like to see/comptete against in the WHT and what car should they drive. Call it Fantasy Formula Ford.

Perhaps Damon Hill & Mark Blundell in RF85's against Johnny Herbert in his Quest.

David Leslie, Neil Cunningham and Danny Watts have accepted the challenge who should be next?

i wouldn't mind seeing any of the old racers. The likes of John Booth, John Village, Perry McCarthy, Dave Coyne and many others all back out on the track at the same time could be very interesting!

Perhaps one for the 40th aniversary of Formula Ford is to get as many ex champions and racers out in cars as possible.

Whilst it would be great to see some of these drivers back, I can understand why many of them wouldn't want to do it.

One main reason being WHY?

It would be like asking someone like David Beckham to come and have a kick around down the Park on a Sunday afternoon.

These people have nothing to gain and everything to lose.

I am no pessimist, but it would be a tall order to get some of these guys out. Why would they want to take the risk. Nothing but a win would be good enough for them. I would love to see them out and it would be great to race along side some of them (or follow them at least), but I would understand them not wanting to.

I totally agree that they have everything to lose, but it's great that people like David Leslie & Tony Trimmer come out in cars where they have no chance of winning overall and are happy to have a bit of fun.

Didn't Michael Schumacher do the World Karting Championship (or similar) a few years back, so it's not unreasonable to think that one or two more oldies might have a play in a Formula Ford again.

I totally agree Alan.

I think it was Kovalinan that beat Shumacher wasn't it?????

I would love to see them all back and giving it a go and those that do, brilliant. But you know what racers are like. Some have big ego's and wouldn't want to do it unless they had a guaranteed win before they even got in the car.

But that said, I'm doing it and that's all that matters to me.........so long as I have fun.

Be good Justin but I doubt it. I was going to ask Justin Wilson to drive my car if he wanted to, but it's between Australia and Mexico on the ChampCar schedule.

You might get someone like the new Australian F3 Champion champion, Ben Clucas.

He did a couple of Ford races in Australia at the beginning of the year to help his team and was racing a Caterham at Silverstone this last weekend (1st and 2nd).

i remember that too. he was in the istel computers sponsered quest, and was due to race the istel Rover Sd1 in the production saloon race the same day. I was sat in the woodcote grandstand when he went in. Real bad shunt, not good for the confidence as i was about to be in the following metro challenge race. I know people always talk about the Brands festival races etc. but i have to say that the FF1600 races around the old 'boring' silverstone club triangle were just amazing to watch. Johns Booth (butcher and brolly), rick morris, and too see Blundell and Herbert etc. were a delight. I know i'm slow, but it was watching those guys that makes me still go out and spend too much money having a laugh in a Formula Ford.
