Spanish Grand Prix - Predictions Contest 2019 - Round 5 of 21 - Results
Congtatulations to wolfhound on taking his first win of the season. His score of 101 ties with Born Racer Fan's, but by virtue of being the only one of the two to predict the winner, he takes the round.
In the championship standings, smellysocks increases his lead incrementally, from 46 to 48, although I have now taken over 2nd place from ApexTurtle, who falls to 4th. Born Racer Fan moves up to 3rd and crmalcolm falls from that position to 5th. For the second race in succession, wolfhound and Notso Swift swap places, with the race winner moving back up to 6th. Spanish Grand Prix Results 1. Hamilton 2. Bottas 3. Verstappen 4. Vettel 5. Leclerc 6. Gasly 7. Magnussen 8. Sainz 9. Kvyat 10. Grosjean Qualifying 1. Bottas 2. Hamilton 3. Vettel Fastest lap: Hamilton Fastest pit stop: McLaren Weather: Dry formula1.com Driver of the Day: Verstappen Driver of the Grand Prix: Hamilton Team of the Grand Prix: Mercedes Rate the Grand Prix: 5 Analysis This is the first time this season we have had scores of 100 points or over. This was the most 'predictable' Grand Prix so far this season in the sense that 20% of drivers were predicted in their exact positions (14/70 of the 7 entrants), compared to 10% in Azerbaijan, 8.75% in China, 18.75% in Bahrain and 3.75% in Australia. From the 7 competitors in this round, 52/70 of drivers finishing in the top ten (any order) were predicted. That's 74.3% and although I haven't worked it out, I would think there's a good chance that will be the highest percentage so far. Only ApexTurtle predicted the qualifying top 3 correctly of Bottas on pole, then Hamilton, then Vettel (this top 3 was the same as in Azerbaijan). McLaren got their second fastest pit stop of the season and the second in a row and only crmalcolm and Notso Swift predicted this. Only crmalcolm and myself predicted the poll would rate the race on average as a 5. Only ApexTurtle predicted Hamilton's Driver of the Grand Prix poll win and nobody predicted Verstappen's formula1.com Driver of the Day poll win, although Born Racer Fan had put him down for the Ten-Tenths poll. Born Racer Fan was the only person to put Verstappen on the podium. Unsurprisingly, given an emerging Mercedes dominance, Bottas's recent form and Hamilton's known quality, predictions were fairly split on the race win - 4 for Bottas and 3 for Hamilton.
