Mini Tempest Stages at Longcross
It was a very, very good day, took 212 pics using a Canon EOS300D with a 75-300mm F4-5.6 lens. It was a bit of a cop out with the camera as I had it on the idiot proof settings.
Here's a selection of pics; Here's a selection of pics taken on Sunday of the Mini Tempest Stages at Longcross. Was a very, very good day. http://www.astra-mk2.com/allenmead/M...5/IMG_0325.JPG http://www.astra-mk2.com/allenmead/M...5/IMG_0345.JPG http://www.astra-mk2.com/allenmead/M...5/IMG_0399.JPG http://www.astra-mk2.com/allenmead/M...5/IMG_0406.JPG http://www.astra-mk2.com/allenmead/M...5/IMG_0421.JPG http://www.astra-mk2.com/allenmead/M...5/IMG_0442.JPG http://www.astra-mk2.com/allenmead/M...5/IMG_0443.JPG http://www.astra-mk2.com/allenmead/M...5/IMG_0447.JPG Careful if you click on the image above as it's full size and is not 56k friendly. http://www.astra-mk2.com/allenmead/M...0_IMG_0447.jpg Last edited by Allen Mead; 4 Apr 2005 at 22:44. |

Some nice photos there Allen, I especially like this one:
http://www.astra-mk2.com/allenmead/M...5/IMG_0399.JPG I think for some of the photos using a slower shutter speed and doing some panning on them would help increase the sence of speed greatly. As is the problem with shooting on auto mode it quite often picks to fast a shutter to capture the sence of speed one of the reasons I rarely take my Konica Minolta Z5 out of full manual control. I would suggest trying to not go over 1/200th sec shutter to help with the sensation of speed, especially on tarmac rallies where you dont get stones and dust thrown up very often. At forest rallies I quite often shoot with a 1/800th - 1/1000th shutter to "freeze" the action and get the stones and dirt paused in mid air. Another good place to use that technique is water splashes to freeze them in mid air. For the motion blur you dont have to go as extreme as something like this: http://www.mole2k.co.uk/media/rally/...d/PICT0004.jpg I would only find 2-3 good locations to take shots like that at rallies and even then its usually because there isnt any other good spots that I can stand without too much clutter in the lens. Shots with a minor bit of blur such as this: http://www.mole2k.co.uk/media/rally/...t/PICT0789.JPG seem to be the most popular as its realatively easy to get the car in sharp focus and have the background blurred out. I currently have on order some new filters which will hopefully help me take nicer shots. A polarising filter (to help kill glass reflections so you can see inside the car), A ND8 filter (To shoot with slow shutter speeds on bright days) and a UV filter (Helps "clean up" landscape type photos from what I've seen). I have a fair few of my rally shots online @: http://www.mole2k.co.uk/media/rally/ |
