Does a driver desrve better than him to have a good car and win WDC. I think that he's a good really good driver, but not lucky.
In fact he has always been one of my fav., but god,
he still in the back of the grid and for 2001 with Prost again. A talent like this must not be wasted.
Put him on a Mac please.

I agree timo..alesi is probably one of the best drivers ever in F1..but sadly both his temprement and the cars he has driven have let him down...i doubt whether he will get the chance of F1 stardom again and feel he is playing out his career in also ran teams..but what could have been ...what would have happened if he went to Williams instead of Ferrari back in 91..who knows..

but to be champion you have to be a complete package..and sadly i feel jean is lacking in the thinking department..sure no one is denying that he is an exceptional talent in driving skills ..I believe he is up there with the all time greats in the way of car control..but his agression has gotten the better of him so many times over theyears and this is in part the reason why he hasnt made it to being the champion.


I would personally like to see him tackle the champcar scene to see how his talent goes in what is basically equal equipment.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - I would love to see Jean Alesi in a big sports prototype again before it's too late. A heavy, fast car which responds to every input would suit his style far better than the current GP machines. Jean is like Coulthard, in that the successive evolutions of Formula 1 car have been moving further and further away from their natural driving style.

But a sports car.... If Jean plays his cards right, he could mature into an elder statesman of Le Mans, in the same vein as Henri Pescarolo or Jean-Pierre Jarier.

The current F1 car does not suit Alesi's driving style at all - very true. I don't think he'll ever get a competitive drive in F1 again.

I kind of like marcus' suggestion. I feel Alesi could be like Zanardi if he went to CART. That would be great.

No I agree with TimD.

Put him in a sports car and watch him go. A place in a topline Viper (or Mustang or Panoz) would be worth watching especially in the wet.

Alesi's skill of driving on the throttle seems to be a dead art in F1.

Well, like I said in my thread, Alain is getting a good bum deal from Ferrari in that they are actually giving him a good rear end package with the engine. If Ferrari start getting serious with the Prost, Alesi might end up with a better car than we think - like a three quarter factory car. In fact, if Ferrari really wants to get their engine off the back of the grid, they might as well help Alain with the front of the car as well. lain really needs to get hold of a current year's Ferrari engine or at the least last years engine suitably upgraded by Ferrari themselves. That 2000 engine is very reliable and will probably be pushing out the same HP as the other factory engines. Yes!! I agree with all of you guys - Jean deserves a break, he is a very good driver and I would like to see him on the top step of the podium next season.

Yep Bounce, that's exactly what I think...
noone counts Prost even as a dark-horse next season, but in the end no other team has changed so many things over the last two months.
I don't think that Alesi wastes his time in the actual F-1.
Sure, his driving-style is more CART or Prototype-like, but if his car holds Jeanburrasca is to be found in the points easily. With a decent car also on the podium...
I know I am an Alesi-freak and therefore not subjective enough, but F-1 without Alesi, what would that be! Damn, it would be boring to death! So please Jean...stay some other year!

Agreed - F1 without Alesi would be very boring. Alesi is the best driver out there and undoubedly deserves more luck than he ever got.

I agree, when the car holds together under him he puts together good times in **** machinery. And he remains entertaining to watch.

I hope for the impossible, a competitive drive for Jean before the move away from F1.

I hope that too, but why is it so impossible...who knows, maybe all the changes Prost has made and the Michelin-support bring him to a lucky year...ok I'm not very realistic, but as history has shown to us all, everything is possible in Formula-1!
