Will BAR-Honda change to just "Honda"?

I've been informed that apparantly a team or some other teams objected to BAR's team being re-named Honda (Honda have majority ownership right? or is it total?)

Why would they oppose this? The term BAR doesn't really represent anything anymore now that they are no longer British American Racing.

The big confusion for me in all this is that Honda are supposed to be supporting Super Aguri as more than just supplying "customer" engines. And surely the team currently known as BAR aren't wishing attention to be deflected away from them which is supposed to be Honda's big operation.

But Super Aguri was set up to keep Honda's man Sato in F1, yes? May I ask why they are so keen to keep him if his performances are not up to scratch? Do they not have other Japanese driver options with more potential if they are determined to have one of their own nationals racing in F1?

I don't think Honda would set up a multi-million operation just to keep TS in a seat.

Super Aguri's Honda engines will be fitted to the Arrows chassis for the first few races, but after that don't be surprised if the new car looks a lot like another car already on the grid. It's been done before.

pole2pole should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I think Honda will do anything to make sure that there name will be used as the main name of there team. After all just think of the money Honda have invested in formula one i am sure they will want maxim exposure of there brand. Maybe that's the problem....maybe another team/brand does not want Honda to get maxim exposure in case it takes the spot light of them. Maybe this is the start of things to come now that the giants of the car industry are very much involved in formula one.

Now theres the mystery of the century!
Of all the huge car manufacturers in F1 today, which one would stoop that low to hinder Honda like that?

Gosh, I'm clueless!
It could be any one of them!

As for Aguri. It has been set-up for more thanjsut for TS. Although that may turn out to be an added bonus. It won't be great at first, but it will grow. The reasons to be there are similar to everyone else's.

I don't think the other teams have much say as to how much the owner of one team wants to brand it's team, as long as it doesnt sound too similar to their own (ie Toyota won't be too pleased if another team call itself Toyo F1).

And i won't see a problem naming BAR-Honda to Honda, as Sauber is renamed Sauber-BMW, Jordan to Midland, Jaguar to Red Bull.

Super Aguri was conceptualized in part to ease the public reaction of the Japanese towards Honda for dropping Sato. It is such a last minute decision, so badly planned that i doubt it was a serious attempt until recent weeks. The Japanese are not known to be keen to "break their words", and once words leak out that such plans were afoot, Honda is basically caught in a corner.

Apparently, Honda would be providing engines, financial backing and most importantly technical advices and support to ensure that the team gets up to speed as soon as possible. It seems ideal for Super Aguri no doubt, but surely, the current BAR team would be less than excited knowing that their challenge for honours, and against Toyota, is facing serious threat of being distracted. Money going to Super Aguri could have gone to Honda main team. Technical engineers helping Super Aguri will mean less people to work full speed at Honda.

It will be interesting to see how it all works out. But frankly, Super Aguri needs to do alot to be competitive and to show that they are in F1 for real and not just a 3-5 season show.

Matsura is overrated, IMO. Yes he did ok in junior formulee but he really failed to star in this years IRL after a decent debut season in 2004, he finished a lowly 14th in this years championship out of a field of 20 drivers. F1 Material?

Davidson on the other hand as we know is super quick and has had recent F1 experince with BAR, Davidson is the obvious choice. IMO. Unless of course Davidson isnt interested in a race seat for 2006 with Super Aguri and is staying put with Honda in the hope it may lead to a race seat in the future.

I think they are looking for/have found a Japanese driver.

What leads you to that conculsion? Nothing I have read in related news items has indicated that they are looking for another Japaneese driver. Anthony Davidson on the other hand has been muted on numerous ocassions.

Big shame for Davidson if this is confirmed but Ide is a good choice. IMO. He finished 2nd in Formula Nippon this year which is still a competitve championship, not quite that of GP2 or CWS maybe but certainly higher than that of WSBR. IMO.
