What would the Guards Trophy grid look like if the capacity limit was removed from class SRC ?

At the drivers meeting at Silverstone it was said that the limiting factor to the sports racing cars were the top speeds. The inclusion of M1's and T70 spyders would only be considered with split races like the Oulton park gold cup meeting. For races which were not split the speed difference was considered too great for these cars, bearing in mind at the end of a decent straight the M1's and T70's will be 30 or 40mph faster than a B8.

fantastice grid, no ordinary 'GT's' at all

I wonder how many Lotus 23's there are left with FJ engines in them

RE Johns comment on ride height, I bet you can't see under any like in that period photo, do the current cars not have to comply with the 4" rule?

Unfortunately I missed the Silverstone meeting so cannot comment on those discussions. I assumed, wrongly it appears, that all the invitation class entrants would be anxious to take part in the new upto 2 Litre series, thereby leaving space in the Guards grids. One way of filling these hypothetical grid slots would have been to allow bigger engined, period correct cars.
