Consistent comes along with being considered.

Rather than being black and white and utterly refusing to budge about it (which I assume is Marbots definition of consistent) every decision needs context considered.

Take Spa 2008. Hamilton and Kimi race hard. Lewis takes a shortcut but lets Kimi back past. Then repasses at the next corner. A bit naughty but Kimi gets the lead back again during the lap. And then crashes off.

A considered decision would be to see that no difference had been made to anything. But we got a black and white, unbudging rule enforcement that decreed Hamilton should be placed behind two other drivers who got nowhere near him or Kimi all race.

Madness. I know which I prefer. Thank god for the Todt reign.

Apparently it now transpires there were reports in Melbourne that race control had told the drivers that they were allowed to go off track at turn 4 if required. Why that should be, I don't know. Maybe just for "the avoidance of doubt".

Pity no one told the rest of us.

I hope that we can get back to being 'black and white' in Sepang.
