Their contract is until end of 2014, so it is a moot point

And there is one less contender as Formula Renault 1.6 UK is now not going to live ( Can't say dead as it never began)... |

Italy and Australia (2015) are jumping on the bandwagon apparently. Italy will select Tatuus-Renault promoted by Fast Lane (of F. Renault Alps fame)

"The Motor Sports Association (MSA) has confirmed that the deadline for the tender process regarding the proposed British single-seater championship conforming to the FIA's Formula 4 regulations has been extended until the end of 2013.
Following the recent meeting of the FIA's Single Seater Commission, it was confirmed that a definitive list of homologated chassis and engine suppliers will be published by the FIA on November 15th. The MSA feels that prospective tenderers should be allowed more time to consider these final lists before making their submissions. Therefore the new deadline for tenders to be received at Motor Sports House will be 12 noon on Tuesday 31st December 2013. The MSA has also made further information and clarifications about aspects of the tender available on its website at www.msauk.org/tenders" There we go then... |

That tender delay made Motorsport News today. Jonathan Palmer still claims it is too early and that the costs may not turn out as expected. Ford just want to get on with it, they have openly admitted they will apply and are in a lot stronger position now FRenault 1.6 isn't UK bound now. They want to get on with 2014 in the knowledge of any changes for 2015. However, they agree the technical regulations and those that conform being revealed by the FIA on, I believe, Friday will assist the process.
As a side show, can anyone look beyond Ford in the UK? As far as I can gather it is the only presently running series applying. I cannot see many individual organisations tendering for a whole new series, MSV have no interest anymore although I wonder whether if the tender was longer, that would change. The BARC are surely out with the loss of their playing card ( FRenault 1.6). Maybe the SRO would want to start a series and run it alongside Formula 3. But with the difficult period F3 has faced, plus the success of British GT, they have nothing to gain. Ford would have engines, a long term chassis supplier we would assume in Mygale, an infrastructure in place. The TOCA support would cover year one of the FIA category and I am sure Gow would extend for an FIA catagory. |

It would be fantastic if the FIA were to work with all of the series to get them all put on to youtube. They don't have to be live, but it's always good to have them there for people to see, I don't understand why the organizers of series like these don't have the races up for people to see. Surely some exposure is better than none, and the cameras are in most cases there already.

British F4 series I think started in the 50s and involved 250cc motorcycle engined cars ( when F3 was 500cc) later adopted ex F3 1000cc screamers in the 70s.

Apparently F4 is starting in Italy, Tatuus chassis, engine to be unveiled (rumors say Abarth or Renault).

Turbo engines, teams instead of central preparation, budget around 150-200k. You have to laugh how the template envisioned by Berger (effectively a copy of FFSA F4) was twisted by FIA and local ASNs to practically a copy of what was already there (ie in Italy F. Abarth and UK most probably FF)
