I'm not sure I should comment since I wasn't there, and it doesn't relate to the red flag issue, but some of what I read above sounds like the established HSCC quick start procedure rather than any change?

We had our French friends over and had a rolling start. I think this would of solved all the problems.
For me I had a super weekend, last minuit call up to drive the little Oliroy F3 car dispite 5 year old tyres it was great fun and I had a good time chasing our Rudolf. Then used the FF2000 race as a test in customers fully rebuilt Delta and that also was great fun unitll I got run over at Druids. Great to catch up with tenther friends especialy Eddy V who I have not seen for a while. |

I too had a great day thanks to the aforementioned Delta and fared rather better than same in HFF2000 in his spare car. In practice Iain shot past me into Paddock and I thought he was going to pull me through on a fast lap so tucked in and followed every move as far as Surtees. It took a moment for me to realise that this wasn't some secret demon late turn in when he went straight onto the Indy, nearly followed him which would have been a tad embarrassing. Half shaft failure! Enjoyed a great race with a nice race long tussle and not so much as a twitch from the rubber so clearly nowhere near finding the limit yet. Unlike my lacklustre Cadwell debut this was pure enjoyment.

An idea of the chaos caused when oil and Paddock Hill bend mix.

No. It is what was said in the commentary. The commentator then suggested that Davies should give Davies the place back. I had to laugh at that one. Driver standards are shocking in this class and will get worse till action is taken. |

I happen to know that they both had their heads bashed together (figuratively) and went in the "will never forget" book of don't ever try anything like that again.

With Paul's agreement, here is his impact with the soft barriers. They are clearly effective as he took the restart and led the way for a few hundred yards before the second red flag.

I think that comment could be levelled at many historic series... unfortunately. It seems that the increase in participants and driving standards are inversely related.

Really enjoyed the meeting, so much fantastic machinery! The GP circuit is always nice to work with too :-)
Also for me it was a test day with a new lens... few shots here - http://www.ae-photography.co.uk/albu...-hatch-photos/ Here's a couple of mine from the incident discussed. For the next 20 seconds after I didn't know where to look... cars everywhere! |

at the Superprix we had a non standard longer starting procedure with an installation lap and a green flag lap then they reverted to the standard HSCC quick start procedure late in the day to make up for lost time and that was confusing R.E. |

Rudolf, I think you might find that different races had different start procedures. That's what the published final instructions suggest
