Oooh yeah.. and Bike Engines... I know the regs stop 'em, but why not give them a minimum weight to slow 'em down.
Is His Lordship entered this year? Beware man bearing garden implements! Rob. |

At the moment it looks like we are nearly full with saloons, and the bike engined sports cars have got a lot of other championships this year which we don't want to dilute.

I for one want to race in a saloon car race with saloon cars in it.If I wanted to race a small lightweight car with a bike engine in it I would have bought one. What has always concerned me is what happens when a heavy saloon and a bike engined car tangle as I know I would not want to be sitting in my very quick little car with some bloody great thing pinning me to the armco at high speed.Besides you never see a saloon being let in to a sports car series do you.

peter you have a rover engined special saloon .i have a bike engined special saloons ,there both s/saloons so why can t thay race together .if id spent thousands of pounds on a sequential box and a BDA that reved to 10k that would be ok ,but not a bike engine that does all this for a 10th of the cost ,my car is a s/saloon not a sports racing car,it doesn t make sence to me

Sorry big andy but you miss my point,I refer to the bike engined sports cars as rod had mentioned earlier on.Having raced the escort against these cars and some times been unable to see them I dont want to be the one who ends up driving over one of them and seriously injuring someone. After all Iam sure that if I turned up in a super truck nobody would let me in the race for one reason or another.(by super truck I dont mean the escort ,before I get all the wise cracks).

I think Pete means; having raced his space framed Imp, no way would he want the Prelude or a ton of V8 Escort pinning that to the armco. The Imp, built as yours Andy, would stand no chance in an accident with a steel bodied Super Saloon. Lets face it; your space frame would fold up. Yuk.

As the driver of both a moddified saloon mini and a spacedframed Metro I have to agree with Peter Thurstons comments.
I raced the Metro a few years ago at Snetterton with steel shelled cars and had a very large accident the steel shelled cars were not to badly damaged but my Metro was a write off and I suffered broken ribs, burnt lungs and various other injuries that put me out of racing for over a year. Safety in Motorsport must come first !!!!! |

There are some pretty quick cars in class D, but you might be surprised at how well you go. Registration is free, so join in. At some venues it looks like there will be split races anyway.

Only the southern sports and saloon series race, the rest of the Britcar meeting is going ahead. It seems as though because it was a non-championship race a lot of our guys were not quite ready (myself included) and there were only ten entries. True, other clubs would run with that number, but it would have meant a considerable loss for the BARC S/E centre. Shame really, as it was a rare opportunity to run on the International circuit.

To complete this post. He only eats Fillet steak (cremated, for stamina); drinks Metaxa and Sprite, followed by gallons of ice cream; AND the Women! I had to fight them from his hotel door and give them refuge in my hotel room; what a night! He wont refute this reply, because hes currently "testing" the Escort on the A299 Thanet Way, which has reopened since the snow. Have had to blow out the Ash bypass for testing; a Farmer dobbed us in to the Law; but the straights are longer between Whitstable and Margate. Those of you think Im jesting, dont live on this road!! See you on the 16th at Brands!

Grumble grumble to a moderator; we really should have a SPONSORS subject on 10 10ths. The money THEY spend! The drivers demands are now too much. Tyres?? 3 sets per year? Come on. Do they really have to drive sideways? I keep telling him; STOP IT!

I would just like to say your honour that I have never knowingly driven a race car on the public highway and as for this guy djinvicta who professes to know me, I only have some recollection of a guy staying in a hotel near silverstone by this name as there were sheep queueing at his door.
