Yes several didn't talk very kindly about him : but as you say he certainly was a character, he always reminded me of my old race sponsor from Larkins Brewery !

Just happened across this - if anyone is wanting a "new" race transporter, race car, Caterham F1 paraphenalia, or all sorts of other stuff. Ask Mr Bell nicely and he might check it out for you

As Viv says! Never seen any of it kicking about the area. Caterham F1 were based here though, which could explain some of the stuff. The Holden looks interesting!

Yes, he certainly told it as it was rather than 'Boaty's' endless propaganda.

We’ll find out hopefully! Think in the film the story required the bike to only clear one fence, then crash into a second? From what I’ve read, Guy attempts to clear both.....

Watched on breakfast this morning Carol singers singing to this poor lonely OAP. I thought we should try and do something for our Bob. Perhaps a conference call as Gordon is back in Spain and Luton is a fair distance from most of us.We could practice "Good King Wenceslas"".WDYT.

I had a long hard look @ the Bentley but too many owners for my liking.

You can chalk me down for this Iain. I'm sure that my tone-deaf singing will add just that certain something to the event! (Plus, if we do it by 'phone, we won't see the old boy in tears like the lovely chap on TV this morning!)

Ho, hoo, interesting to watch. I guess nobody can say if the first stunt was made to follow the script or not. McQueen was a very competent rider/driver but probably the insurance company didn't like him to make stunts himself…
In the movie, the bike was a modified '61 Triumph TR6 Trophy. What kind of bike Guy will be riding? Dont tell me it's a Bimmer in Triumph guise!

Yes, it’s a stripped Triumph 1200 XE Scrambler. Motor Cycle News have the full story of the attempt this week, which spoils the surprise a bit! One good thing is that the prog honours the men who lost their lives in the real escape attempt in 1944, 75 years ago.
